Restaurant Alpchalet — Restaurant in Lucerne

Where to start, the food is expensive therefore you would expect great food to be served, on top of that you have to pay 5chf extra as a cover fee which is strange as my partner and I did not experience that in any other restaurant in lucerne. Anyways, my partner and I werent very hungry so we went inside and ordered a fondue for both of us and the bread that came with it was extremely old! The lady that was alone and served us seemed energetic however a bit intrusive. What annoyed me the most was when it came to paying, I use a card when I travel that changes money to any currency however I have to do it through an app on my phone. If I do not change the currency the transaction doesnt goes through. When I asked for the billto the waitress almost shoved the card machine in my face while pressuring for a tip! Which is out of order and puts ypu in an awkward and uncomfortable place as that should never even be mentioned, tips should be discrete and only done when the customer feels like it. I then attempted to pay without noticying I needed to change currency, when the card machine declined, I told the waitress to please hang on a second as I was going to change the currency on my card (whiche takes like 1 min on my phone) she ignored what I was saying and kept pushing the card machine on my face putting pressure on me while basically shouting THE CARD MACHINE SAYS THERES NO MONEY! After the currency was changed as I advised her I paid and left. I HAVE NEVER FELT AS EMBARRASSED AS I DID THAT MOMENT. EVERYONE WAS LOOKING AT ME LIKE IF I COULDNT PAY WHEN IT WASNT THE CASE. Visited with my husband tonight and left shortly after sitting down purely because the service was so rude and unfriendly. We arrived to a pretty much empty restaurant and the reception from the waitress was cold straight of the bat for no reason. Decided to persevere anyway and sat down at a table and was handed two menus. After two minutes the waitress came back and said abruptly "what do you want to eat?" When we said we needed some more time she was obviously annoyed and said the kitchen was closing soon and we needed to choose. After my husband asked for two more minutes, she responded "what are you drinking then?!" To which we decided this wasn't worth our time or money and left. Had she said they were closing soon that would have been fine, instead we were treated like we were an inconvenience and given only rudeness. Couldn't tell you what the food was like but from the look of other reviews its giving overpriced. Ended up going to Hotel Schiff and the service and food...

DISGUSTING NOT HOMEMADE AND SO EXPENSIVE for the quality even at for Swiss price.

Only one waitress for all tables (poor her), only two choice of beers (poor me) but it could be ok if it is homemade like it’s indicated on the menu.

Beef tartare (29- on the menu but 31- when you pay the bill) was so disgusting, I think there was more tomatoes than beef meat and so many spices I guess to cover the taste of bad quality food. Toast : not regular bread, you can do it better yourself. French fries…. Frozen « homemade » French fries for expensive price of 13.5- but according to waitress it’s « regular price in Switzerland » … no kidding !
