In the heart of Zurich, a culinary destination offers a taste of classic American fare that is as authentic as it is delicious. Welcome to Black Tap, a burger joint that masterfully blends the charm of American diners with the sophistication of Zurich's dining scene. Stepping into Black Tap on a bustling Saturday evening, you are instantly enveloped by an atmosphere that is as vibrant as it is welcoming. The restaurant's decor, reminiscent of classic American diners, creates a nostalgic ambiance that sets the stage for the culinary journey ahead. Despite a short wait due to the restaurant's popularity, anticipation only adds to the overall experience. The menu at Black Tap is a testament to the art of burger making. I succumbed to the allure of the Spicy Baja burger, cooked to a perfect medium-rare. Each bite was a revelation, with the piquant flavors of the Baja sauce perfectly complementing the succulent beef patty. It was a burger that was as daring as it was delicious, a true homage to the bold flavors that define American cuisine. My friend opted for the Swiss Cheeseburger, a delightful fusion of American and Swiss flavors. The rich, creamy Swiss cheese melted over the perfectly grilled patty created a harmony of flavors that was both comforting and exciting. It was a reminder of the magic that can happen when culinary traditions meet. One cannot visit Black Tap without indulging in their side dishes. The Mozzarella Sticks were a standout, their golden, crispy exterior giving way to a center of molten cheese. It was a dish that was as indulgent as it was satisfying, the perfect accompaniment to our burger feast. While the food at Black Tap is undoubtedly the star of the show, the restaurant's atmosphere plays a crucial supporting role. The energy on a Saturday evening is palpable, with the buzz of conversation and the clinking of cutlery creating a soundtrack that is as American as the food. However, the volume of the music can sometimes overshadow this symphony of sounds, making conversation a tad challenging. A slight adjustment to the volume would make the dining experience even more enjoyable. In conclusion, Black Tap is more than just a burger joint; it's a slice of Americana in the heart of Zurich. With its authentic American fare, vibrant atmosphere, and commitment to quality, Black Tap offers a dining experience that is both nostalgic and novel. Despite the pulsating music, the restaurant's charm and the quality of the food make it a must-visit destination for burger enthusiasts and food lovers alike. Whether you're craving a spicy Baja burger, a Swiss Cheeseburger, or simply a taste of America, Black Tap is the place to be.

Nestled in the cosmopolitan heart of Zurich, Black Tap is a culinary destination that defies convention and tantalizes the senses. With its eclectic blend of American diner charm and contemporary flair, it's a place where comfort food is elevated to an art form. The "Crazy Cake Shake" is Black Tap's pièce de résistance, a milkshake that transcends the ordinary. Adorned with a slice of cake, a swirl of whipped cream, and a riot of colorful sprinkles, it's a visual and gastronomic spectacle. Each sip is a journey into decadence, a symphony of sweetness that resonates with joy and indulgence. But the creativity doesn't stop at the shakes. The "Korean Chicken Salad" is a culinary masterpiece, a fusion of flavors that dances on the palate. Tender chicken, marinated in a spicy Korean sauce, is paired with crisp greens and vibrant vegetables. It's a dish that's both bold and balanced, a testament to Black Tap's commitment to innovation and quality. The ambiance at Black Tap Zurich mirrors the playfulness of the menu. With its retro-inspired décor, lively music, and energetic vibe, it's a place that invites you to relax and revel in the moment. Whether you're seated at the bar, watching the skilled bartenders craft cocktails, or enjoying a meal with friends, the atmosphere is electric and inviting. Service is warm and attentive, reflecting the ethos of hospitality that permeates every aspect of Black Tap. The staff's passion for their craft shines through, ensuring that every guest's experience is memorable and personalized. Black Tap Zurich is not just a restaurant; it's an experience. It's a place where culinary boundaries are pushed, and the ordinary is transformed into the extraordinary. Whether you're a local seeking a culinary adventure or a traveler exploring Zurich's vibrant food scene, Black Tap offers a taste of the unexpected that lingers long after the last bite.

We were curious to see what the hype was all about and decided to go shortly after they opened. After trying to get a table a week before (we arrived at 6.30pm on a Tuesday and would've waited for 1 to 1 1/2 hours) we returned early a week later (5.15pm) and were able to get a table right away. We ordered some draft beers and shared a portion of Atomic Shrimps to start. Our very friendly waiter warned us that they would come super spicy but we decided to give them a try anyway. Well, in our opinion they were good, but not spicy at all. They had a light sweet chili taste to them, but that's about it. I liked the Coleslaw they were served on. For our mains we had a burger salad, the Texan Burger and an All American Burger with an Impossible pattyy. All of them were very good, my Impossible Burger indeed was so good that I had to recornfirm that it wasn't real meat. One of the best burgers I had in a long time. The portions are very generous and fill you up . So I was thankfull that our waiter recommended not to order one of their Crazy Shakes. I couldn't resist though and ordered one of their classic milkshakes after the mains. Anyway, there was no way of finishing it, so I gladly took the offer to take it home. Overall, I loved it, the staff is super fun and easy to chat to, loud Old School Hip Hop is blasting from the walls and the astmosphere is so chill. I will be back for sure.

We waited in line for 20 minutes to get a table on a Saturday evening. Not bad at all. The burgers were great (thick meat, well cooked, quality toppings), fries were good (slightly undercooked), shakes were okay (too whipped and airy for my liking), but the service was very bad - easily the worst I have experienced in Zurich. We received our food, no napkins. Waited for 5 minutes trying to get the attention of our waiter to no avail. I walked up to ask for napkins and was given a few wet wipes. When we wanted some ketchup, same lack of service, so I walked to the hostess stand and took several packs of ketchup. When we were finishing our meals, the waiter attempted to clear my plate before I was fully finished. To order our shakes for dessert took an extended amount of time to get the waiter's attention. Overall it did not feel like the number of wait staff was too minimal to provide better service, but rather our waiter was keeping their head down and intentionally avoiding assisting our table. No response is needed, I understand restaurant service will sometimes be better than other times.

I've traveled and ate burgers in at least 20 countries and honestly this was one of the most expensive ones I've ever eaten (but hey, Switzerland amirite?). Careful with the Milkshakes, you get more whipped cream (I wonder if it is cool whip? Cos it was VERY sweet) than actual milkshake but it was good, staff were very friendly. I got the little italy burger which was absolutely delicious and they followed my instructions on medium rare burger well. The music playlist was absolutely brilliant (90's old school hip hop/rap) which I absolutely enjoyed but it was very loud and impossible to have a conversation without leaning very close to the other person. It is not an every week type of place but i'll be happy if I come back in a couple months, would love to try their bacon fries. Comfort food 8/10 Ambiance 6/10 Staff 8/10 Price 6/10 Covid checks: yes (ID and QR code)

Beware: they cheat on fries portions. Their delivery menu says there should be 300g but actually they give less than 200g (my scale says 203g with packaging). In restaurant you can choose 175g for 6 CHF or 300g for 9 CHF, but on Uber Eats they don't give that choice - there's only the more expensive portion and then they send you the smaller one hoping you won't notice. EDIT: Regarding the response from the restaurant - I am not buying raw fries so how can you define the portion weight that way?! If you sold a freshly pressed orange juice, would you also describe the serving size in respect to the volume of raw oranges not the actual volume of the juice in the glass? Do you see now how absurd your explanation and "logic" is? You are selling a prepared product and its weight is what you should advertise, otherwise it's pure cheating.
