I am simply shocked. Living in Zurich, we had some administrative tasks to handle over lunch, leaving us with limited time to grab a bite. Being near Münsterhof, we decided to try Caffè & Bar Belpaese, which advertises different pasta options for lunch. However, what we encountered was beyond disappointing.
Upon entering, I headed to the bathroom and passed by what they called a "kitchen," which was essentially a bar with two microwaves. To my disbelief, I saw an employee unpacking a package of convenience pasta. Confused, I initially thought it must be her lunch. But before I could enter the bathroom, the same employee called me back to retrieve something from there. Did she wash her hands afterward? I saw no sink in this so-called "kitchen."
I asked the employee if the pasta she was warming up was intended for guests. To my astonishment, she confirmed, saying it was "freshly made" while casually adding some cheese and spices. I was speechless—a crime against Italian cuisine! How can they serve convenience food and claim it's freshly made?
As someone who never eats convenience food, I immediately canceled all orders, expressed my strong disappointment, and left. To anyone who cares about nutrition: do not order any food at Caffè &...
Read moreI generally don't like leaving bad reviews, but I feel I have to for this place. The service was probably some of the worst I've experienced. We waited 15 minutes for our order to be taken, 1 coke, 2 OJ's and a croissant, so not exactly complicated or time consuming. We waited 30 minutes for the wrong order to come. We asked for the croissant again as my 3 year old was hungry and we were dismissed as if to say "yes I know, it's coming". When it finally arrived it would have been better to have gotten one from the supermarket. Also the OJ was blended including the pith, so it was...

The restaurant was near empty (3 tables occupied) but we waited 40 minutes for 4 (sad and small) burrata salads and a toast (cheese and ham without sides nor taste).
The personal always want to have the final word, even when they did the fault (forgotten toast, prepared in the hurry to hide the mistake). No smile, no apologies, no consideration.
There are other restaurants on this plaza. Please allow yourself to...
