I've been to the store in Toucheng once before, and had fantastic memories of both the food and atmosphere.
I sent a message the night before asking whether or not I should book a table. I received an automated message with hours of both stores (both open the next day), followed by another message asking me to line up in person.
That's totally fine! So the next day, I head to the Toucheng store. And it's... closed. I call the Jiaoxi store and ask them what's up. They say it's closed because it's a 補辦日. Okay, that's too bad. I let the Jiaoxi store know that we're on our way over.
We arrive at around 14:58, only to discover the main meals are only available until 15:00. I explain the mix-up and ask if there's anything left in the kitchen, but the waitresses kindly and politely say it's not possible.
So we decide to order the cheese and ham plate. No cheese available... Okay. That pretty much just leaves bread and soup.

Read moreWe hosted our Christmas Party at Bread & Butter for about 30 people. They were very accommodating helping figure out a menu for our group. We enjoyed a delicious salad, mushroom soup, excellently cooked turkey and roast vegetables for the holiday occasion, duck pizza and a delicious cranberry dessert; in addition to accommodating the vegans and vegetarians in our group. The mulled wine was also a great festive winter favorite by those who got it.
The space is beautiful in every corner and you can tell a lot of thought went into designing the space, and a bonus for those with children, there’s a full-sized changing table in the family / handicap bathroom (hard to find in most restaurants).
Both Dan and Olivia, along with the rest of the kitchen staff, were friendly and helpful on the day. Our group had a wonderful Christmas...
Read moreJiaoxi location. Really nice, pet friendly, and attractive bakery cafe, with varied selection of excellent baked goods in the bakery section, featuring the best croissants I've had in Taiwan. Many choices of mostly European inspired bread types as well, and apparently bagels on occasion, but none available on our first visit unfortunately. Adjacent cafe area has a small but excellent brunch menu, and the quiche was superb, and accompanied by a delicious assortment of accompaniments. Environment is comfortable and airy, and service is friendly and efficient. The location is next to a supermarket, with an adjacent parking lot, which is free. Very different experience from the much smaller, minimalist Toucheng location which is a...
