陋室酩神粥府 — Restaurant in Jiaoxi Township

Relatively new restaurant (opened in April) that is right in the middle of Jiaoxi park, in a red brick building by the “forest bathing” area of the park.

They have 3 types of special porridges that change out, though they consistently seem to have poultry version, beef version, and seafood version. The porridges take an hour to prepare and require a $500 ntd deposit, so your best bet is to stop by, order your meal and then go explore the park and spas while you wait. They called me when it was ready.

The place is run by two young guys. The server spoke just enough English and they were both very kind and attentive, and even had me pick a card so they could read my fortune at the end. This place is small but very cute, with 7 two-top tables inside that they could push together for bigger groups, and some large tables outside.

The crab porridge itself was fabulous and very generous. There was a whole crab, scallops, 2 huge langoustines, fish balls, sweet yam balls, and king oyster mushrooms. It was like fishing for treasure. It’s huge and serves 2-3 people. I was able to eat half on my own, and they packed up the leftover porridge for me to have for later. They even gave me extra broth to add to the porridge for reheating. This was such a nice surprise to find a great place like this...

My husband and I spontaneously landed up nearby in the afternoon and luckily got a reservation on the same day dinner time. Had shark head mannequin greeting us at the red carpet as we entered the restaurant, he let me choose a random card that was going to be explained later as an interesting event during dinner.

Food was excellent. In our rice porridge there were a big crab, 5 big shrimps, 2 scallops, plenty squid/fish balls, veggies and oyster mushroom. Two bread splices were dipped in the porridge, soaking up the chicken soup base and seafood essence. The taste was well balanced and in good harmony.

Additional side drinks were served free of charge, no extra service fees including the chakra test and analysis. Not sure if it happens to be on some sort of time limited event but my husband was truly amused by how friendly the staff (小龍女）tried to analyze my chakra outcome. We’ve ordered one pot of porridge & noodle for 4 of us which is quite good potion for us & owner would also not over push to order.

They have just newly opened for less than 2 months when we visited. As I can see they really sincere on preparing & cooking the food. In the end of the lunch, the owner came to us & explained that they are not only preparing the food but spreading the love to all people.

Give the young men thumb up & encourage people to try their prepared food with love.

Crab porridge is really awesome, all porridge series need to be prepared the ingredients in advance, please call them one day ahead if you are coming for their yum food with love!
