莯莯朝朝 小食院 | 日式定食專賣 — Restaurant in Taichung

Discovered this charming restaurant while exploring Taichung as a tourist. In retrospect, my experience here was one of the most memorable of the trip!

It was a hot day, and we were welcomed very warmly by the shop owner. One of the menus had photos and looked like a beautiful scrapbooking project. In fact, the entire place is decorated with the cutest drawings and memorabilia of the couple who own the shop. When I went to the counter to order and explained that I wasn't able to read the words on the menu, she was so sweet and answered my questions patiently.

We ordered the teishoku sets with a top-up to riceballs. They had a great variety, and I chose the mentaiko grilled chicken. It really tasted amazing, and I loved that there was so much variety of side dishes. They all tasted wonderful and some surprising tastes like the tamago egg roll, which had a creme brulee type layer of caramelized sugar. Personally, I think it all tasted so good because you can taste the love in everything.

Before we left, I shared with the owners that I really loved the place and the manga drawings decor. As I guessed, she is an artist and drew all of them herself! She also gave me some cute stickers to remember the place by.

When I say I started losing my mind halfway through the meal…as if I hadn’t been blown away upon seeing the whole teishoku set laid down infront of me before I even started eating😭 This was honestly one of the heartiest, most wholesome, and memorable meals I’ve had in my life. I hope I’m not being dramatic by saying this but the fact that my plate was entirely cleaned by the end of my meal — as a very picky and unadventurous eater in the first place — is testament to how much heart and thought goes into every dish they make here. I am a certified vegetable-hater — yet I found myself scraping small pieces of veggies off of every bowl/dish I was presented with and savouring them all.

Also not to mention the lovely charming decors and menu booksthat make the shop such a homey space!! And the vibey japanese playlist as well~ The lady owner (who draws all the illustrations seen in the store herself) very kindly gave me a free sticker as well.

昨晚，我在 Instagram 上看到了一段視頻，真的讓我想去吃早餐。我通常早上不吃早餐，因為我一天只吃一頓飯，所以我唯一的快樂和平靜就是下午的一頓美餐。此後我會盡量不吃任何東西，因為我已經 50 多歲了。我需要維持我的血糖水平和血壓。

當我在 Instagram 上看到這段影片時，我發現這是一家位於我家附近的小餐館，名叫 Mumu Morning。 多麼可愛的名字。

一開始，我以為 Mumu Morning 是一家典型的早餐店，但實際上它是一個非常特別的地方，食物非常美味，而且氣氛也很好。

我點了一份日式漢堡牛排，外觀非常可愛！午餐有三塊小餡餅。但不幸的是，漢堡牛排對我來說太乾了。至於湯和沙拉，它們簡直完美。炸豆腐炸得恰到好處。這套組合還附帶兩個摺飯糰，不幸的是，當我試著拿起牠吃的時候，橘色的米飯散開了！但整體來說還是很美味的。

我的妻子點了雞肉套餐，雞肉煎得很香。皮又好又脆。至於肉，它又嫩又多汁。

第 2 部分 態度非常重要。

嗯……至於服務，這真是令人震驚。我走進餐廳時不知道會發生什麼，所以櫃檯後面的老闆娘問我是否預訂了。我說“不”，因為我的回答，她只是看起來有點生氣。她沒有笑，語氣也不好。事實上她真的很冷淡而且不友善。所以我心想，我該預訂嗎？當我只是想以友好的方式交流時，她為什麼這麼粗魯？她確實破壞了我的心情。我想離開，但我在等我的妻子。 喔……順便說一句，我的中文不是太好，因為我在美國長大，所以中文不是我的母語。

看完菜單後，我決定在櫃檯點菜。由於我的中文不太好，我看不懂中文菜單，所以我只是禮貌地告訴她，並指著我想點的兩份套餐。她冷冷地要我「告訴她我想點什麼…」。我尷尬地告訴她我不太懂中文。她只是無視我說的話並再次堅定地問我要點什麼，我再次說“對不起，但我在另一個國家長大，所以我的中文不好。”她只是粗魯地盯著我，然後低頭看菜單，我尷尬地試圖閱讀菜單。我只是不明白我到底做了什麼才會遭受這樣的對待？我從來沒有經歷過這種尷尬，就連街邊賣麵條的阿姨們都比較友好，當我告訴她們我不太懂中文時，她們很樂意幫助我。他們總是很熱情地向我解釋菜單。好吧，我對她的粗魯感到震驚，所以我做了一件非常糟糕的事情，把菜單塞回她手裡！

我把菜單推回給女老闆是錯的，因為儘管她真的很粗魯和無禮，但我不應該把菜單推回給她。但如果她對顧客彬彬有禮、尊重有加，我就不會有這樣的反應。所以我為那位噓聲女士感到抱歉。請原諒我！

因為這件事，她的丈夫就幫我們上菜了。他真的很有禮貌，態度也很好，我們向他表示感謝，他也尊重地為我們服務。不像他的妻子，這位女老闆今天早上可能起床時心情不好。或許她累了。

我不認識她，她也不認識我。我不知道她為什麼要用這麼不被尊重的方式對待我。我已年過五旬，也許在她眼裡我還年輕。我不知道，也許她認為我是比她年輕的小混混。 ...
