August Food Studio — Restaurant in Taichung

Simple wooden decor with red brick wall..warm and cozy. Friendly staffs. Six courses prix-fixed menu. Onsen egg with truffle and olive oil was new..was a bit confusing how to enjoy it. Seasonal vegetables soup with clam was standard (can taste the sweetness of the vegetables). Caesar salad (also had tomatoes and olives) with smoked duck breast was a little complicated and too cheesy. Steak ($880 NTD) was great (crispy outside tender inside)..I would say the top three I have had in Taiwan. Lamb chops was over-cooked $780 NTD. Spanish paella $650 NTD contained saffron which was good but was missing other ingredients.. Very generous portion of seafoods which was good as well. Oreo tiramisu was unique and yum! Poor wine selections.. Overall was decent but not surprising. Good value with the price. I was debating either three stars or four stars, but like what I have mentioned "decent but not...

The staffs were friendly and kind. The best part for us was their service, we couldn’t accept pork but the restaurant specially arranged us cheese and smoked salmon as replacements on our appetizers and salad. Their plating is good, and the quality of their food is indisputably delicious. The hotness of the spaghetti was adequate, sided with pre-peeled prawns and fresh clams. On top of that, my pre-ordered fish dish was marinated exquisitely with baked tomatoes and oranges. You can taste the sweetness of the fruits just by having the fish. I am definitely putting this restaurant on my revisiting list, and remember to make a reservation online beforehand so the kitchen can prepare the freshest ingredients 🎉😋...

First meal in Taichung. Such a beautiful and cozy restaurant with amazing food! Loved the saffron seafood rice and Oreo tiramisu the most! Service was also top notch. The waitress made a very slight mistake with our order, and she gave us a complimentary lava cake for that mistake. Been to many top cafes In Taipei, however this is the best :) good job!
