Beautiful quiet place for traditional Chinese tea. This is 秋山堂, which sits beside (and is different from) 春水堂。While 春水堂 is known more for bubble tea and modern quick bites, 秋水堂 is its traditional Chinese tea outlet. The interior decor is classy and tasteful, and overlooks the peaceful gardens of the Museum of Fine Arts. Everything from furniture to teaware is elegant. Tea itself was tasty, and service was thoughtful and excellent.
They allow you to order some foods from 春水堂,but only the milder smelling ones - which actually says a lot about their attention to detail in the environment they want to create for all customers. (In comparison, when I went to 无为草堂 I ended up sitting beside the kitchen and all I smelled was the sesame oil rather than the tea) Exhibition of pottery from local artistes also for sale - some very pretty pieces. Overall just a wonderful experience and a great time to while away...
Read moreCalming atmosphere and good tea. The decor is styled traditionally with wood and bamboo. The tea house sells seasonal oolongs from Taiwanese varietals as well as cooked teas and black teas processed to allow for longer storage. The tea house is set up with multiple tables and short tables for tea sessions and complete tea sets. Customers are billed for water and space as starters and order different teas to prepare on provided tea sets. I had tried 2017 Spring Oolong from 樟樹湖 (ZhangShuHu) terroir; the tea was excellent quality for the price, vegetal, fruity, and able to withstand 10 infusions. The tea house, besides loose leaf tea, also sells artisan teaware and books about tea. An excellent location to visit for those who wish to experience tea culture and atmosphere, for both the inexperienced and...
Read moreIf I could give 12/10 I would. They are that good. It’s not just the quality of tea but the care staff has for customers. I went unannounced to request tea tasting and they were fully booked out but the staff was so welcoming they arranged for a specialist to spend time with us to sample Alisha qinxin oolong tea. The tea was exquisite not only because the quality was good but that staff knows how to brew tea. Very few places have the staff with knowhow to do so without either burning tea or over brewing tea resulting in astringent tea brew. It’s a delicate winter tea with a lot more body and it’s easy to do so without the proper skill. I really am loving the store which is really a higher grade of 春水堂 with a food offering that they offer at other stores with a dedicated tea space....
