梅鑫海產店 — Restaurant in Tainan

This was recommended to us by our taxi driver. A really good recommendation I must say.

The place is causal with round tables. Most of the customers are locals that are there for gathering w friends & family hence the place can get a little lively & loud.

There is no menu. You have to go to the counter at the shop front to order from the owner. The owner will give recommendation based on the fresh seafood available. It is a plus if you can communicate in chinese.

Food wise, we ordered cold prawns, salted egg sotong, prawn roll, white chicken, stir fry clams, garlic fried fried rice, Taiwanese sausage etc.

Most of the dishes hits the spot especially the white chicken which was really tender, juicy with tinge of dangui flavor. The cold prawns were really fresh & sweet as well. We really enjoyed the taiwanese sausage which was firm, juicy and bouncy.

The only dish that we didn’t like as much was the salted egg sotong as the salted egg was a little soft & mushy. Not the style of salted egg dish we are used to in Singapore. Would be good to order it grilled instead to enjoy the freshness of the sotong.

A local restaurant that serves fresh seafood and some classic Taiwanese dishes! You can make reservations on weekdays, and go early on weekends so you don’t have to wait for the long queue. The shrimps was amazing, so juicy and sweet! In general all the food was good, price was reasonable too. (Our bill was 2700 ntd for 4 people) The only thing is that the ambience isn’t the most pleasant, (but then it’s a good Taiwanese local dining experience) it’s bit dirty in the outdoor seating areas right next to the road. Mid. Food overall was alright, some dishes stood out while others were a bit more on the blander side of things. Inside the store it was chaotic and quite loud and busy with many other customers.
