Honestly, as a foreigner, when you first glance at the shop name and what they are selling which translates to bowl cake, you probably have something else in mind. But the moment when you are served something that is totally different and with the first bite together with the gravy, it is something amazing and not commonly found.

There are plenty of seats inside, so you can enjoy the bowl of goodness. My only wish was that the boss could have guided tourists on the best way to enjoy the delicacy, as well as advising what the sauces were (there was wasabi but I thought it was a celery mix).

Is this dish meant to be taken lukewarm?

Having tried at two supposedly popular stalls including this, I kept wondering how good this dish might have been had it been served hot. By consuming it at room temperature, they just tasted like some generic yam cake but without the sauces and ingredients. This stall does include wasabi which added some kicks but doesn't little to impress me to crave for it in my future...

It was a small shop in Yongle Market, with few tables and chairs for dining in. No air con but only electric fans were available, though it was not a big deal to us. Queuing was less than 5 minutes. $40/bowl and the food was quickly prepared by professional and friendly aunties (they could not speak English so we used body language instead). The fish cake soup was absolutely amazing and unique....
