A café in the middle of old town Dihua Street Brightly lit with cold AC and standard café vibe. They sell specialty local Taiwanese coffee so it’s relatively expensive compared to other café but it’s obvious they are passionate and proud of it. The staff explain their menu very clearly and give you clear instructions on how to enjoy what you ordered Not the friendliest service but definitely efficient. Everybody move fast and get you what you need. Per March 2024, their WiFi ID is dan coffee and their password is 54171352 Paid 2,002 NTD for 3 adults and 2 children. We ordered 2 food and 5 drinks. They also charge minimum charge as in everybody on the table has to order 1 drink or a dessert/ food of 350 NTD.
What I ordered and tasted: French toast [4.5/5] - Rich, creamy and flavorful. The texture of the toast itself is more similar to a pound cake but it was delicious and hearty. Sweet Orange Coffee Latte [4.5/5] - They serve the latte with a shot of espresso on the side so that you can taste the original taste of the espresso that they used in the latte. You can have the shot separately or just dump it into the latte for a stronger flavor. The latte itself was light, refreshing, not too sweet and a hint of the orange The coffee that my wife ordered comes in a pot with 3 cups. First cup has ice water with a beaker in it so you can taste the coffee cold without being diluted. The second cup has ice so you can have iced coffee and the third cup is empty so you can have the coffee at room temperature or hot.
A lot of reviews say the café feels pretentious because you can’t just walk in but have to wait for the staff to sit you down or because there is a minimum charge. I personally likes the experience in this café and while I understand these reviews, I can also understand that the café is better ran because they follow through with their rules and operating procedures. Definitely will come back if I...
Read moreCoffee is extremely expensive, even more than London (14 pounds for two coffees!), and the tables they give you are exceedingly uncomfortable to sit on. When the two of us asked to be seated in the more comfortable table they refused saying the table was for four (so was the uncomfortable table).
The best part is that the place was mostly empty when we arrived and even more empty when we left, there was no reason to refuse us that table, especially when charging stupid prices for coffee. The irony is that we wanted to order food and more coffee but we left because of this after finishing our first drinks
On the upside they have WiFi but it’s much slower than all places I’ve been to in Taipei, I guess they don’t want you to be comfortable and overstay your welcome here 😅
Other than that the coffee is good and it’s nicely presented. The staff also made a good effort explaining the...
Read moreCozy cafe hideout in a busy district. The selection of coffee beans are interesting and the staff will introduce them enthusiastically. The hand-brewed coffee are served hot with a tiny tube served with ice to give you a taste of flavour under different temperature. We also ordered the Vienna coffee which is a bit uncommon. Overall the coffee is pretty good. The food is just fair on the other hand. The portion size is just enough. Even though it looks promising, the risotto with bread was nothing special, and the bread is just… bread. The beef bourguignon is quite good, but the butter rice also doesn’t add anything to the dish and taste just like plain rice. The cafe itself was bigger than I thought, with plenty of room, so staying there is pretty comfy. Overall, it was a nice visit for a break...
