If you’re looking for an authentic, no-frills Japanese dining experience in Taiwan, Teishoku 8 is definitely worth a visit. Here’s what you can expect:
Staff & Service: The staff at Teishoku 8 doesn’t speak much English, but they’re incredibly friendly and do their best to make sure you feel comfortable. They’re very accommodating and will go the extra mile to help, even if it’s a bit of a language barrier.
Menu & Translation: One thing to note is that they don’t have an English menu, but don’t worry—Google Translate is your best friend here. You can easily translate the menu items on your phone, and the staff are understanding of this, so it’s no trouble at all.
Food Quality: The food was great overall, though not perfect. The dishes were well-prepared, flavorful, and satisfying. It’s simple but tasty Japanese fare—definitely more than worth the price. While the presentation may not be as polished as some high-end places, the quality and taste more than made up for it.
Location: Teishoku 8 is located on the second floor and shares space with Sushi Express. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, making it a comfortable spot for a meal after exploring.
Final Thoughts: If you’re craving a hearty and authentic Japanese meal in Taiwan, Teishoku 8 is a solid choice. While there are some language and menu barriers, the staff’s friendliness and the food’s quality make up for it. It’s not a fancy spot, but it’s definitely one to try for a...
Read moreThere is a minimum spend of 200ntd per pax.
Food: Ordered the veg (50ntd) and the tempura don (240ntd). Portion was huge and the soup and rice are refillable. I suppose big eaters will enjoy it because it’s value for money. The set comes with a miso soup with has chunks of fish inside and a chawanmushi. Both soup and chawanmushi are pretty good. The tempura batter was too thick and masked the flavour of the ingredient. It also filled me up way too quickly because I’m just eating mostly batter. The tempura prawn was actually about the width of my finger but the batter was so thick that it gave the impression it’s a big prawn. Overall I wouldn’t say the food was really great, if you have tried many tempura places outside of Taiwan and if you have eaten tempura from Japan, you will find this place lacking. But if you are just looking for a mid range semi decent mediocre lunch place and eat 3 bowls of rice and soup, this is value for money.
Atmosphere: a little chaotic, could hear servers chastising the kitchen staff about slow cooking resulting in slow service. It’s a no frills place, you can come here for a fuss-free meal but don’t come here if you’re on a date. Your date deserves nicer food and atmosphere.
Conclusion: This place prioritize quantity over quality. Good for big eaters who are not fussy about the quality and...
Read moreI haven’t been to Teishoku 8 for years and it really brought back memories. Their menu is different from before and it’s a pity that its branches are fewer than years ago.
I had a Seafood (Kaisen) Donburi and a Dragon Fruit Lychee Special Drink. Besides, Barley Tea, Miso Soup and Rice were unlimited on the self service area. You also pay first and self serve the tableware.
The salmon, tuna, and marlin sashimi all tasted fresh and delicious. The tuna got the tenderest texture among them. However, the Herring Roe was the best part of the seafood because of its crunchy texture and great flavour. The shrimp here was much easier to eat here because the skins were already kinda separated from the flesh. The rice was nicely cooked and went well with the seafoods.
The special drink had a similar taste of Calpis and as a big drinker of that, I highly recommended it. There was some flesh on the bottom and that part tasted so sweet.
In addition, there were a lot of scattered fish in the miso soup and that was the main reason why I liked it.
In conclusion, the food was quite tasty and the speed of cooking was fast. The price was also affordable for most people. Overall it’s a...
