Ouch... Went with gf on a Monday night a couple of weeks ago as I love Indian food and it was one of the very few restaurants (Indian or not) open after 10 pm we could find.
We ordered two cocktails ("rose mojito" because that's about the only mojito flavor they had left out of five or six) and a negroni. The former tasted like it sounds (sweetness gave me goosebumps), and the latter seemed off too (too much gin?) but I'm no cocktail expert tbh.
Foodwise we had the Thai steamed seafood salad, advertised as tangy, but utterly bland (with a hint of funk said the gf, who has a more refined palate and barely touched it). I thought it didn't seem very steamed but ate most of it anyway because I don't like to waste food, and got explosively sick shortly after (likeliness of salad being unrelated is close to zero as I had nothing out of the ordinary that day).
We also ordered the karahi paneer, and a non-paneer veg curry (the pindi chana massala, I'm pretty sure) both of which we asked to be made very spicy, which they were, no issues there. However both dishes pretty much tasted and looked the same, because a hefty serving of spicy red sauce was thrown in to spice them up, as we were told when we asked if the karahi paneer was indeed what we had ordered because it looked nothing like the picture on the menu. They did not taste bad, just nearly indistinguishable save for obvious ingredients (chickpeas vs paneer).
Throw in two garlic naans, total 1800 sth nt. So kinda pricey to boot.
Maybe the cook and the bartender were off (then don't open) and the fridge was broken. The place...
Read moreCame here on Friday night for dinner with a group of friends. I've been to one other location and liked the food. I thought the live entertainment would be fun.
The food did not disappoint. We ordered the beef kabobs which were incredibly tasty and tender. The chicken tikka was good with a bit of spice. We also ordered the lamb vindaloo, palak paneer, beef tikka masala, butter naan, garlic naan, rice, and raita.
The curries were all tasty. I asked for the vindaloo to be hot but it barely had any spice. The chicken tikka was hotter. The palak paneer was yummy with big chunks of paneer. The naan was especially good. Very fluffy, with a tender chew and good flavor. I also liked that they used real basmati rice.
Service was okay. Drinks were brought out fast but sometimes you couldn't find a server. The place isn't that big and it wasn't full when we were there.
The atmosphere is a little weird. They have thumping club music playing so loud you can barely hear the people at your table or the servers and the lighting is so dark you can barely read the menu. The tables at the booths are either too low for the chairs or too high for the booths. It's not unbearable but it's a bit uncomfortable. The live belly dancer that night was cool but it was a very eclectic set with heavy metal and what sounded like Mario cart. I was expecting something more traditional.
I might come here again for the fun tropical/tiki style drinks and hookah after dinner but it's not a dining vibe that I enjoy. I'd personally go to another of their locations for good food and a more...
Read moreWe are die-hard fans of MIK with my boyfriend... however we got very disappointed about our experience in MIK 6. Having seen all the ads, publicity and buzz about the place (especially during FIFA World Cup season) I convinced him and all his colleagues to attend.
The problem was not the fact that the place was desert-empty, or even that the atmosphere was SUPER dull.. it was the food. We had been warned by 2 groups of indians about it not being the big deal, both food wise and atmosphere wise.. This to me, -FOOD, is the most important of them all, since again.. I'm an indian food & culture lover. I have tried Mr. Mayur's food in branch #2 if I'm not mistaken, and it was DEFINITELY not the same taste. I could feel that the chicken was not marinated, inspite of the gravy being sufficiently savory. I know the process of marinating meats, and this one tasted like frozen boiled chicken. My friends (Irish, Dutch and Taiwanese) were very dissapointed.
In short, I don't want to be harsh or anything, because I still respect Mr. Mayur and his business, just not too sure if I will go in the...
