Songjiang No. 8 Kitchen — Restaurant in Zhongshan District

Really good, hearty food. So far I've only had the sandwiches but these have been exceedingly good (very succulent, flavorsome and decent portion sizes). In fact, I hesitate to call them sandwiches given that it's actually a decent meal unlike your average sandwich.

I particular recommend the croque madame which will sort you out, particularly when you need cheering up a bit because of the weather!

Decent smooth brewed coffee too.

The restaurant is more intended towards locals, but unfortunately, I didn’t like it. I don’t really care since I can read in Chinese, however they don’t have menu in English, therefore, whoever wants to eat here, it is not a good option. The menu is out of date since we asked about the pancakes, and the waitress said due to covid-19, they couldn’t import pancakes, and many drinks were unavailable. The small little brunch place is one of my favorite restaurants. The veggies for salads always taste great. Eggs are fresh. Yoghurt is good.

But they have only 2-3 persons in the store to prepare the breakfast (may be a family own business), so sometimes they may not have time to come serve you immediately or take your order.
