Bar THY 桃花源 — Restaurant in Zhongzheng District

An incredible experience in Taiwan. The place, which is on the second floor of a building, is very nice with couches and a projector and the bar area is comfortable and looks like a Manhattan speakesy cocktail bar. The owner/bartender has an incredible amount of rare bottles and ingredients that he uses to craft amazing drinks tailored to your taste. If you don't have a clear idea of what you want to order he starts by asking you some questions to understand your taste and mood and always delivers a great cocktail at the end, trust me I tried several times. It's always hard to describe a vibe but we felt like we had been going to that bar since the opening. The owner speaks perfect english and we were also able to get to know the other, also extremely nice, customers at the bar and interacted in fun conversations with everyone. Last but not least they had several rounds of free freshly made food that was plenty enough to be considered a dinner. I had a fantastic experience at the bar thanks to the incredibly attentive and thoughtful staff Tracey. When I mentioned that the cocktails I initially ordered weren’t quite to my taste, Tracey didn’t hesitate to step in and make it right. She listened carefully to what I liked and asked the bartender to customise some special cocktails just for me. The result? Absolutely delicious drinks that perfectly matched my preferences.

It's actually been over a year since I was in Taipei, but I was recently reminded of my time at this bar, and so here I am making sure I rant and rave about it. I was solo travelling, and made it a sort of ritual to try different cocktail bars, and Harry was so amazing, that I went back twice. Every single cocktail I had (and I had several) were perfection, he is largely a one man show, but he deserves all the praise, because he really is amazing at what he does.
