I really wanted to like this place but~ alas.
❌Dish was clearly marked 全素 which means no allium. Arrives with raw purple onion on top. ❌Normally you get free extra noodles with your first order. The vegan one only comes with GF tofu noodles and you do not get an extra order, and it is not available as an extra order. ❌You cannot get a side of vegan noodles. ❌Repeat: you cannot get a side of vegan noodles. ❌Still hungry after eating the whole bowl and drinking most of the soup. ⭕️The tomato soup was tasty and light, like gazpacho! ❌The soup is much thinner and less flavorful than the regular tomato soup my friend had. ⭕️The shop staff offered to cook my extra order of eggplant in water instead of frying since they do not separate frying oils. 👍🏻
💸 220 vegan tomato ramen 💸 30 side of eggplant
Food notes!
🐣 The regular tofu noodles are made with egg derivative. Ok for ovo vegetarians! 🐄 All of the pudding desserts contain gelatin. 🐟 The kimchi contains fish sauce.
Recommendation: fine if you are vegetarian, hanging with non-veg friends in the area, or have a...

Positive: Surprisingly great ramen spot! We tried the tomato flavor and the chicken flavor. While they don’t taste like traditional Japanese ramen, both soups were really nice—light, not greasy or oily. The chicken soup was especially mild and pleasant, and the noodles were quite good. It’s a bonus that they offer free jasmine tea and one free noodle refill. The decor and ambiance are also enjoyable. We also ordered chicken karaage and chicken char siu. There’s shichimi spice available on the tables, which was a nice touch. The pomelo tea we tried was sweet and refreshing. No service fee, which is always a plus.
Negative: If you’re expecting Japanese-style ramen like tonkotsu ramen, this isn’t the place for you.
A unique and enjoyable spot to visit with friends, especially if you want to try the tomato ramen. I’m...
Read moreOutstanding service by Jun Hieng at Taiyo Tomato. He was very friendly and kindly explained the menu and recommended the best options in English (eg when upgrading the noodles to a set meal, to perhaps avoid the drinks as free tea was provided already and wouldn’t provide the best value proposition) to a clueless Australian who speaks no Mandarin or Japanese! He went above and beyond to offer an extra piece of karaage chicken when he determined that it was too small a serve. He also was happy to offer extra noodles as part of a promotion that I would have never been able to figure out myself. I hope he gets a promotion! The noodles themselves were also delicious - it was a moreish garlicky tomato soup base perfect for winter. The serving was huge, and came to around $300. Very happy to recommend trying this place out - note it is in the basement with a lift down from a fancy looking hotel lobby. The best customer service I’ve had in...
