We recently visited the renowned Bamboo Bar, and I must say, it lived up to its legendary status! The overall experience was fantastic, from the delightful drinks to the captivating atmosphere and live jazz band. I recommend choosing indoor seating to fully enjoy the live jazz show; my visit was on a Friday.
While the staff were generally attentive and helpful, I noticed that, within the 1.5 hours we were there, they repeatedly asked if we wanted anything else or if we were finished. We ordered four cocktails for two people in two separate orders, and it felt a bit excessive to be asked four times if we were finished. Interestingly, we observed that they didn't inquire as frequently with the foreign visitors, which left us with mixed feelings.
In conclusion, although the experience was impressive, the persistent inquiries about our orders gave us pause. We might consider returning for a special occasion but perhaps not in the...
Read moreA magical colonial bar located within the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, full of period furniture and thoughtful artefacts and live jazz every night!
The bar oozes tasteful opulence and refined class. The list of wines and spirits available is extensive, and they have an ever-changing selection of original cocktails on offer, as well as all the classics. There is also a very nice cigar lounge!
Although seating is limited, there are seating areas on the veranda outside the bar that offer the ability to still hear the music inside and enjoy more conversation when the music is playing. That said, I advise arriving before 2030 to get a good spot in the bar to see the band, however the staff are very attentive and can allocate you a table when it becomes available if you choose to sit outside first.
A great spot to go to for some serenity and good music away from the hustle...
Read moreThe place is very classy and serves great cocktails. The live jazz shows were very good, even in international standards. And the waiting service was top-notch. The problem was with the bill - first, they charge 7$ for a small bottle of water, which is outrageous in Bangkok, since it is not advised to drink tap water. And of course you only find out about the price when the bill is served. Second, they include a 10% tip surcharge which they don't declare of anywhere exept the bill itself. And third - on top of the summarized bill, they add the 7% VAT, which means that the prices in the menu don't include the madatory tax. It goes without saying that this sort of behavior is indecent and greedy. And even though I liked the place, I left with a bitter taste and mixed emotions. I've been there twice and haven't noticed their dishonesty the first time. There...
