One afternoon, we walked by and decided to look in. The owner was there, he seemed very friendly and asked if we would stay. We had just had a late lunch, it was a green curry (something you wouldn’t follow tea with), so we said, “We’ll be back tomorrow!”
The next day, around the same time, we go back and the man was there along with a woman who seemed very nice. There was a choice of tables but they got up and gave us the larger one they had been sitting at, which was very nice. I took pictures then for I really liked the antique Chinese library vibe of the place. I commented to the man how much I liked the aesthetic, and he lamented having a TV on the wall above the door in the back. I guess he must show movies or music videos, I don’t recall why he said he couldn’t take it down.
We ordered some black tea recommended by the owner. Both were nice. His female friend (co-owner?) brought us some sweets and custard. They were good, though not very sweet.
No tea or teaware or trinkets or statues or anything tea related or anything else for that matter, is for sale in this shop. This shop is solely for the enjoyment of tea. The owners both seem passionate about tea, and we spent a bit of time discussing tea, the Chinese linguistic characters of tea, the tea growing areas of SE Asia, where the tea that goes in Thai Tea Iced Tea is from (I said Ceylon ‘Sri Lanka,’ and he said Thailand), and the owner’s enthusiasm for an 1980s band, The Village People.”
I highly recommend coming here for a unique tea tasting experience. I only wished we had more...
Read moreMitramit is an absolute gem tucked away near the Khao San Road area – beautifully designed, peaceful, and full of charm. It’s more than just a tea house; it’s a memorable experience that stays with you long after you leave.
The selection of tea is impressive, ranging from delicate Chinese classics to rich, fragrant Thai blends. But what truly sets this place apart is the owner – a warm, passionate tea expert who treated us not just like customers, but like friends. He kindly took the time to walk my girlfriend and me through the origins and traditions of various teas, turning our visit into a fascinating and unexpected tea lesson.
We each ordered a tea set, which came beautifully presented with a delicious variety of traditional Thai desserts made by local women. Everything was thoughtfully curated and authentically prepared. At just 240 baht per set, it felt like outstanding value – so much so that we returned again before leaving Bangkok.
Mitramit ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. If you’re even slightly curious about tea, or simply looking for a peaceful cultural escape in the city, don’t...
Read moreSo so.. Sorry nice tea lady overall the experience wasn't great. Cramped interior, very tiny room that was full of tables and people, tea set that I had was very overpriced. If I pay 350 baht for a fenghuang dancong tea set for one person I expect the tea to be excellent. That amount of money can get you perhaps 100-200 grams leafs of that tea if you order it from China. I've done it before and and the taste was like ten times stronger. This is my favorite tea but the one was served seemed to be too old and has little taste. Also Chinese teas aren't meant to be left in the teapot. You steep them only for 30 seconds or a few minutes depending on the technique. If you leave the leafs in it will become...
