Come early (before 12) because the lines get long. There's no AC and limited seating. Once it gets packed food comes out slowly. Roasted chicken takes the longest. Service is brisk but not unfriendly. When you arrive there are menus by the counter in English and Chinese. Grab one and a paper to order. √ check the items you want to order. Then wait to give the lady at the counter your order. You can pay when you leave or get your food for takeaway. Their roasted chicken is great and the sauces are made fresh. The chicken is a bit small. Also recommend the grilled pork. Grilled pork ribs are also good. Stir fry veggies are a bit salty and underwhelming, especially when compared to Chinese food. Beef soup is spicy and tasty with lots of beef. Overall pretty good value for price and tasty BBQ. Worth a visit if you're closeby.

Even if the locals wouldn't tell you ( perhaps some still don't know about this place), SP Chicken is no doubt the crown jewel of Chiangmai in my books. You cannot leave Chiangmai without trying the best chicken in Northern Thailand made famous by arguably the best Western chef outside of Thailand, Andy Ricker and his Portland/NY restaurant Pok Pok. I came here during lunch and was treated to a 45-minute wait. Boy, was the wait worth it. The chicken was absolutely moist, flavor, and required no seasoning. The outside skin is crispy and a bit smoky from the rotisserie process. The best part for me is eating the slightly drier meat around the wings which tend to be the most flavorful part.

I would give it a zero if I could. Cheap quality food as I know what a real papaya salad tastes like, Chinese kale in oyster sauce or a proper bamboo shoot salad. Everything was pitiful including the chicken. It seems cheap but the portions are actually tiny so it’s not cheap at all. Now about the service. We had a horrifying experience with the disgusting old woman (owner) at the counter who is shouting at you because of her own inability to understand English. Close your doors to foreigners if you’re bothered by those who don’t speak your language. Shame on you for your rudeness at your age! If you want to be welcomed and enjoy better food, go to any other local restaurant. It will be cheaper and people are polite. Spoiled our mood for the rest of the day. I don’t even know why I paid and stayed. TO AVOID!!!

Kept walking past this place on the way to our hotel. The rotisserie chickens spinning in the front of the place (street facing) was enough to get us to stop in. That and the fact that any restaurant that can afford to close at 5pm must be considered legendary... Paid 170bhat for an entire chicken. Kind of expensive for Thai standards...They are also on the small side. The other dishes we got (morning glory and papaya salad) were average tasting in comparison to many places around the city. Nothing spectacular that sets it apart. I think people mainly come here for the chicken (hence the name). I do think that the portions overall are a little on the small side for what you pay but that's my only negative.

Made the rookie mistake on visiting a bit late and alas they had run out of chicken. Still i bravely entered and opted to try their pork ribs which also were of strong repute. I wasn’t disappointed as they were tender and juicy. Good value too, less than 100 baht without rice. I shall return and not run afoul of coming too late to get some of their famous foul. Update 26/12/22 I returned a couple of days later to nab some of that dang chicken. My mission was a success and I was rewarded with some of the highly reputed 1/2 chicken. I also had the salted crab salad. All was really tasty, the crab a little bit salty but I’d been sweating so I didn’t mind.

Food tasted ok nothing great - pricing is a bit higher then most local restaurants serving similar food. I ordered half charcoal roasted chicken, a serving of spicy mince pork salad and a spicy beef soup. The spicy beef soup tasted the best among the 3 dishes - beef was tender and soup tangy. Both the spicy beef soup and mince pork salad was not spicy at all. I would not go out of my way to try this place - if your nearby Wat Phra Singh then do drop by to try. Overall I would rate this as average food and slightly higher price - total cost me 280B for the meal including a can of Coke.
