When you walk up to Sun Rays cafe you should feel the sense of butterflies in your stomach. You are about to eat the best breakfast you've ever had. Once finding a seat in the quaint cafe, your eyes will feast on the large but not overwhelming menu. Perhaps your mouth will water as you inspect the waffle offerings and your stomach will growl once you see the French toast. You should order these things immediately, for it is cruel to wait any longer. Do not forget the Thai coffee, iced is perfect on a warm morning. A side of scrambled eggs rounds out your meal nicely. While you wait for your meal, if you're lucky, you might be greeted by the delightful little kitty that calls the cafe home. Perhaps you've sat outside to take in the fresh morning and count the songthaews as they drive by. There is no bad seat in this cafe. After waiting some time, the meal will start to be delivered to your table. This is the moment you will never forget. The presentation is a feast for the eyes. Your mouth will water and you may even cry a little with delightful happiness. You'll wonder how you could possibly eat such a generous portion of food. The time that follows may become a blur. You'll remember succulent fruits bursting with flavor. The textures of the waffles will be unmatched, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. You may even consider using the french toast as a pillow. But that's silly...you can't eat your pillow. As you take bite after bite you'll wish this meal will never end. But as it comes to a close and you come out of your flavorful trance, you'll feel whole and at peace with the world. Don't forget to pay before you slip into...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFruits were so fresh, wide variety too! However I definitely feel that the taste of the dishes are just average and itās the visual appeal and photo-worthy plating of the meals that makes them stand out. The portion of the french toast served is very generous ā probably would recommend sharing it with someone else. The slices we got didnāt seem fully soaked with egg which was slightly disappointing as only the outside of the bread bore the taste of a classic french toast. So overall, not overly impressed with the toast but the fruits absolutely made up for it! As for the Happy Bowl, the yogurt was vanilla-flavoured and too sweet for my liking, though I guess that could depend on personal preference. Would be interested in seeing variations with soy/greek yogurt offered. Would recommend getting this if youāre just interested in a light meal as it wonāt fill you up Lastly, we had the ABF! Bacon didnāt look that appetising but taste overall was good, nothing to write home about but a good typical breakfast~
The cafe isnāt very large which does contribute to the cozy homey vibe, but can definitely feel a bit cramped for some and the few tables present can lead to a wait time. Thankfully we didnāt have to wait long ā felt like just 5 minutes! Staff also donāt rush you to clear your table like some restaurants do. Even stayed a little after we were finished to have a coffee :) Coming from Bangkok the prices are just incredible - any brunch spot in Bangkok would probably (over)charge you double for the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNice ambience but unfortunately really annoyed. There were 4 of us (including my 82 year old granny ) - we were given a table size for 2 (which is fine since the place is small).
However I was really annoyed because when another table was empty, we approached the staff and ask for a bigger seat . The staff agreed and mention to give it a min for them to clear. We agreed. After which the staff went on to another group (pax of 3) to move them to the new table (who by the way requested for the table later than us). I then approach the staff and then they just say oh they have a reservation. We were then promise another table, food came and no table were given to us still. Worse, another empty table that was bigger then came - it was given to a new batch people instead of us (again) leaving 4 of us who order 4 main dishes eating on a coffee table size of 2. I am not sure if we are getting a different treatment because we were Asians but everyone else who got a better table were not Asians. I then realise there were a clear segregation in terms of seating for Asians and non Asians. Indoor for Asians and outdoors for non.
What a bad experience. Good food, nice ambience , but unfortunately I donāt like how we are treated differently based on our skin colour. Will...
