Why Ribs & Rumps — Restaurant in Chiang Mai Province

The food was edible. The steak used was local beef, far from tender. I failed to notice that when searching the place. The steak was edible. Well cooked to a pink medium. But had smell. No garlic or rosemary, the fragrance was off despite of having some dry herbs on top for garnish I pressume.

The ribs were nice and had good glazing. Stuff like being prepared too long ago, yet edible.

Service is weak, from pouring your own drinks to lack of interaction from the staff offering suggestions about dishes, services, etc. could improve.

The atmosphere was - ok. I mean not a lot to see and very small tables for my size. Not a lot of variations. Music was ok.

I’m doing my best to not focus in the things that I found wrong. I live here for a while, therefore my perseption of the Thai restaurant industry has a set value standard.

Awesome calamari and a huge rack of delicious perk ribs. My girlfriend and I went to this restaurant last night having found these excellent reviews on trip advisor. Upon our arrival we were warmly greeted by the proprietors Nong and Hearty, both Thai nationals but who had very good English having lived in Sydney for a few years. The resistant had only opened 2 months ago. We order calamari for an appetizer which was really nice, followed by a great Cesar salad and then we were presenting with a huge rack of pork ribs which were delicious in a wonderful barbecue style marinade. The restaurant was clean, well presented and all the staff were friendly. The food arrived swiftly. Nong had a really good chat with us, who does a lot of the cheffing. Not many places available in Chiang Mai for a good steak & ribs and this place hits the spot. Located within the moat near Suan Dok (west gate). The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was good but i must say that my steak ordered as Med Rare was still twitching on the plate and what I would call 'Blue', so we asked for additional cooking and it then came back Med Well done. However the ribs were spot on and very tasty. The music selection seemed to be Adele on repeat for the whole meal, with wifi router and cables running over the floor towards the bathrooms, looked tacky and would only take 10 mins, a hammer and a few nails to rectify.
