We came looking for healthy food and having read some great reviews we thought we’d give Goodsouls a try. We had issues with both service and the food. To start, service wasn’t great. When we arrived there wasn’t really any staff around so we picked up a menu from the table and chose our seating. 10mins later was when a waiter came to the table to offer us another menu as two of us were sharing one. We waited an additional 15mins for someone to take our order by which point I went in to place it myself. There had been no acknowledgement or greeting from anyone the entire time. The food itself was disappointing. My quinoa burger was okay, but the rest of our order was shocking. The green curry brown rice tasted nothing like green curry, very oily and bland. The fresh vegetable rolls were okay but again it was very bland and the portion size was huge for a side. We also ordered two protein shakes which were by far the worst things on the menu. We took one sip each and had to leave the whole thing. The after taste of these were a mix of vomit and something we just could not explain which stung our nose and left an awful taste at the back of our throats. I don’t know if ingredients were out of date or gone off but we felt nauseous after that. I raised it with the waiter who offered no apology but thankfully we were refunded both protein shakes. By far the worst experience of a vegan restaurant and highly disappointed by the food. There’s a lot of potential there but work needs to be done on both service and food. We still can’t understand how you can get a protein...
Read moreI wanted to share the fantastic experience our vegan group of 20 had at Good Souls Restaurant. Not only was the food exceptional, but the efficiency of the service made our visit truly enjoyable, especially considering our tight schedule.
Good Souls not only accommodated our sizable group but also went above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was smooth and stress-free. We had worked closely with them ahead of time to plan our visit, and the coordination paid off exceptionally well.
The diverse and delicious vegan dishes impressed everyone in our group. From the presentation to the flavors, Good Souls demonstrated a commitment to quality that didn't go unnoticed. What stood out even more was the speed and efficiency of the service. Despite our large party and limited time, the staff managed to serve each course promptly, contributing to an overall seamless dining experience.
I'd like to extend special thanks to Fah, the manager at Good Souls, for her outstanding organizational skills. The pre-planning and collaboration made a significant difference, and Fah ensured that our specific needs were met with precision. Handling a group of 20 people on a tight schedule is no small feat, and her efforts did not go unnoticed.
In summary, Good Souls Restaurant provided a top-notch vegan dining experience for our group, considering both the delicious food and the smooth, well-coordinated service. We appreciate the collaborative effort that went into making our visit memorable, and we look forward to returning for another fantastic dining experience...

23 Oct 23. We had already looked on HC ahead of our visit to find well rated places. Really happy to have found this one, and just up the road from our accommodation! The food was tasty overall - excellent spring rolls, yummy mushroom and cheese burger with nicely cooked wedges. The papaya salad was ok and the garlic bread was a little dry and surprisingly bland. A small blip in a lovely al fresco dinner. The staff were really nice and attentive throughout the evening too.
We'd popped in earlier in the day for a coffee and cake, with the coffee being rated as 'the best coffee I've had since we left home' (which was a month and quite a few coffees ago), plus the cake portion was huge!
PS: There's a couple of sister restaurants nearby (ish). One is called 'Reform Kafé', which is an outdoor version inside the old city walls that has mostly the same menu (just no pizza's I think) but they do have beers etc, unlike Goodsouls. The other is 'Downtown Vegan Garden Restaurant', which is outside the old city walls to the East and appears to also have a similar menu and beers, cocktails etc.
Update Sun 29 Oct 23: Our second visit was not the same at all, sadly. The service was good but food was below average. The pizza was bland and the Philly cheese steak was, despite having a generous filling, surprisingly average. Should've stuck with the one good visit earlier. Dropped to three stars.
Pros: Yummy food (usually?), Helpful, friendly staff, Large portions
Cons: Food quality/taste is...
