This is a really sweet place for affordable and delicious food. I have eaten meals here twice, and ordered drinks and fresh coconut for take out.
The first time I tried it, I had just moved into my month long hotel lease just across the street. So convenient. I ordered a simple rice, kale, pork dish with a fried egg which went down nicely on my new to CM belly. It was 60 baht.
Enjoyed a papaya frappe another time which was just a little too icy for my liking. (I found another sweet cafe nearby that does the perfect papaya lime frappe.)
Had a fresh coconut for take-out and that wasn’t so great. An older, less fresh one, which had very little water and very hard meat; not easy to scoop out even with my metal spoon. And I chose the green one amongst a bunch of brown ones early in the day. Perhaps they mostly use them for their smoothies etc.
Today, recouping from a belly virus I ordered the mushroom tofu over red rice with fried egg. A plate of delicious veggies with rice and fried egg came. I was so hungry and it was so tasty I dug in before realizing it was not what I ordered (wasn’t ready to eat some of the more fibrous veggies.) They graciously brought me a plate of my preferred mushroom tofu dish which I enjoyed immensely. It was plain enough for my sick belly, yet flavorful and filling.
I gave a generous tip to compensate for my greedy belly that dug in too fast on the first one.
Friendly staff, cosy vibe, a bookshelf filled with Lonely Planet travel books and other reads, I do like this place and will be back to try a green curry as soon as I can.
My only disappointment is that they open quite late, before lunch, and close at 6PM. I wake up between 5AM-7AM and would love to eat there before 11AM, and have a later dinner after 6PM. But I do respect their choice of hours; they are doing exactly what works for them and clearly it does. This place always has customers.
Note: WC lacks the water gun and doesn’t flush, but has an H20 bucket and loads of TP, with a closed top...
Read moreThe food was excellent and was bursting with flavor!!! The atmosphere was very relaxing and the prices were not expensive, great for a traveling family.
We had the Garlic pork, the sweet and sour chicken, Red curry chicken, seafood rice, and everything was totally delish! The little bowl of lime juice and spices (and fish sauce maybe?) that they brought with the garlic pork was so yummy (it's making my mouth water right now as I write this) but the heat is no joke! You have to try it, it's spiciness will make you go easy with it but the flavor will make you want to pour it on.
But the food was only part of the experience, Tikky was over-the-top friendly, warm hearted, and thankful for us stopping in. We had just arrived in Chiang Mai and had not purchased our SIM cards yet. We were unable to connect to the wifi and this sweet woman got her personal phone and let me connect to her hotspot to call a Grab. Not only that, she waited with us and chatted until the car arrived and made sure to tell the driver where we wanted to go. This woman really cares about her customers.
We'll definitely stop back here a few times during our stay in Chiang Mai, thank you for the wonderful...
Read moreUpdate: Downgrading feom 5 to 3 stars. The place has changed location and didn't notify on google maps, so most of photos you are seeing now are outdated. The new place is too small and not how it used to be. Old review: I loved this place. Went there with my family with no high expectations but the food there was really good. We tried many dishes like Suliyaki, green curry, yellow curry and Toma Ka soup and many others and we loved every single one. The atmosphere is nice too with nice soft music and good ambiance. And alsobthe price is really good(most dishes are arojmd 100 baht only). The only issue you'd probably have is communicating with the staff as they are not good in English? We ended up ordering 3 extra rice dishes as the waitress didn't understand our question when we asked her if the curry dishes are served witn rice. But nevertheless, the experience...
