Beautiful space, standout desserts, but still not quite unforgettable
When I think of Hario Café on Sukhumvit 33, what sticks longest isn’t just the elegant minimalism, it’s the dessert. That unique flavour has stayed with me, genuinely memorable. The café itself nails that clean, Japanese-inspired aesthetic everyone raves about. There’s a mix of slow bar and speed bar seating, plenty of space, and even a meeting room upstairs—so it feels like it was made for lingering or working in peace.
Visual Appeal & Atmosphere (4/5): This place looks like a design dream. High ceilings, soft natural lighting, minimalist interiors, and thoughtfully placed coffee equipment—it’s Instagram-worthy without trying too hard. I could sit here all day just soaking in the vibe.
Taste & Offerings (3/5): You’re here for the coffee—and it’s solid. Great beans, well-brewed drip and espresso options, and those memorable desserts like your lingering sweet. Plus, they offer green tea of equal quality for non-coffee lovers. Brunch combos with bagels and drinks are also pretty good value when on promotion.
Uniqueness & Overall Value (2.5/5): Here’s where things fall a bit short. Yes, the design is beautiful, and yes, your dessert was outstanding, but otherwise, coffee places like this are popping up everywhere. The experience is nice... but not rare. Some reviews say it’s great for ambience and photos, not necessarily a spot you’ll keep coming back to for...
Read moreI fell in love with this café at first sight. I was lucky enough to stumble upon this restaurant on Google maps right before my Bangkok trip. This restaurant is made by Japanese glassware manufacturer Hario. The entire restaurant is decorated with glass and showcases products made by the company. You can also purchase glassware from the café. The ambience was absolutely soothing and the place is picturesque with lovely interior, perfect to take nice pictures in. There was a wide variety of food items. We tried the mushroom cheese quiche, Japanese cotton cheesecake, a croissant waffle mix called Nutella Croffle, baked apple cold brew, americano, cold brew fizz (came with a cube of honeycomb) and a cold tuna sandwich. Each and every item was absolutely delicious with my favorite being the Japanese cotton cheesecake and the mushroom quiche. The cheese was oozing out of the quiche. I also loved the cold brew fizz drink as it came with a house made Yuzu ice cream which was an absolutely refreshing touch to the drink. I am still craving that ice cream as I am typing from my home country ha ha. Will definitely visit again and I regret for not making more visits during my trip, which unfortunately could not make the time for. But I recommend everyone to drop by this place at least once if you're in Bangkok and want to try...
Read moreBeautiful place, with plenty of seating options depending on your mood. On the first floor there's bar seating facing the pourover/ drip area, some regular tables, and as you enter further, additional bar seating, facing a zen garden.
Upstairs there are pairs of cushioned chairs with small tables overlooking the first floor and another bar which overlooks a different coffee counter with their espresso machines. Each area is very pleasant to the eye and photographs well.
Ordered the yuzu croffle out of curiosity, I've never had a citrusy croissant before, but it was a delightful surprise. Highly recommend.
As for the coffee, I tried their Latte on the Rock, a frozen ball of cold brew coffee and warm frothed milk, a fancier Kori-kohi. Tbh I found it quite unnecessary? Coffee cubes thaw faster and more evenly. The coffee ball thawed slowly so I had to wait a while to drink it, otherwise I'd be drinking mostly milk. Taste was still good though and it was a novel experience.
I'd probably go again (maybe tomorrow), but would order a...
