Iron Balls Distillery & Bar serves up their specialized handmade privately distilled gin and vodka. I do recommend starting with an Iron Balls tasting of both gin and vodka to tickle your taste buds. Other popular liquors are also on the menu and although not an Iron Balls product the 3 Whiskey Old Fashioned is by far the best tasting thing on the drink menu.
One step inside and the atmosphere and staff are very welcoming. A blend of hip hop/house surrounds you at a noise you can carry on conversations without hearing others around you. The Iron Mule, Papillon Som-O Spritz and Pampelmuse Fizz are my recommended favorites... not too sweet with Fever Tree sodas and ample pours.
Prices are moderately high 390-490 baht with a moderate pour of liquor, but choose the drinks with prosecco or additional blends for a higher ABV. Iron Balls Distillery & Bar provides a fun, fresh and funky way to get your groove on for a night out to chill, drink and dance in either outdoor, mid or back...
Read moreVery cool place - the ambiance is well worth the trek. Given that we are in the midst of a gin renaissance, I had high expectations for the local stuff - distilled onsite and using local ingredients (coconut and pineapple, among others) - a bit disappointed, unfortunately. None of the local ingredients seem to come through. You will taste mostly the strong punch of ethanol if you try it on its own or on the rocks (which I did just to try the gin itself). Still, it's always cool to try something craft and local. You can't order from the bartender, it seems - even if sitting at the bar - you have to ask the waiter (weird); or maybe it's because the bartender didn't speak English. The waiter was a bit snippy - no trace of warmth or hospitality (also weird). The gin and tonics (as well as other cocktails) were definitely quite good - some of the best I've tasted in Bangkok and rivaling the great ones I've had elsewhere in SE Asia. Overall - highly...
Read moreCame with my friend, it was a unique place, ambience was very custom made and had a steam punk vibe on the back and a grungy feeling on the front while exuding a classy vibe. Welcoming staff, drinks were tasty, chicken karaage wasn't spicy, I tried the gin and tonic and it was also nice. They have an in-house dj too.
Docking 1 star for 2 reasons a)i felt the PR staff servicing the American on the left was laughing way too often and loudly (I know it's her job to be positive but do be greng jai about other customers), so we went to the back for a more intimate experience. The back area had better seats and a nicer ambience. b) I think it's slightly expensive relative to other local cocktail bars, 17% taxes on top of the menu. Maybe would be better if they can make the taxes inclusive. I'm paying a tip to staff as I normally do on top too, so it kind of adds up. But it's acceptable considering the quality...
