We chose this restaurant primarily for its highly-rated views. Despite the heavy rain, we waited for a table because we wanted to enjoy the scenery. However, given the high price point, the food and service were extremely disappointing.
Service :
Confusing Wait Time: While waiting for a table on the 46th floor, different staff members gave us conflicting information, leaving us confused and unsure of what to expect. During the wait, two different staff members asked if we wanted to order, but when we asked how long the wait would be, they said the restaurant was full. We decided to return to our room, only to be suddenly told that a table was available. This inconsistency was unsettling.
Shared Table Issue: There was a table in the restaurant shared by three people, which could have been split to accommodate us. However, when we asked the staff about this, they rudely said they couldn’t ask the guests to share. Strangely, when we left, we noticed that the table had been split and was being used by other guests. This inconsistency left us baffled.
Lack of Service: Our table was in a corner where rain was coming in. After we complained, the staff only lowered a curtain instead of moving us to another table. Throughout the meal, the service was nearly non-existent. After finishing our main course, we couldn’t find anyone to order dessert, even though we saw several staff members chatting by the entrance. No one came over to check on us.
Overall Poor Service Attitude: The restaurant is part of the same hotel we were staying at, and while the 25% discount was appreciated, the room was damp and didn’t even have 2 trash cans. We had left another 5-star hotel in Bangkok a day early to experience this one, and it was a huge letdown.
Food:*
Lack of Freshness: We ordered the 4000 Baht Seafood Platter, and it was very disappointing. The lobster was almost certainly frozen, lacking any freshness or texture. The oysters were also just mediocre.
Low-Quality Accompaniments: The bread was served with butter in a plastic airline-style packet, which is shocking for a restaurant of this supposed caliber.
Unprofessional Wine Service: The sommelier was very unprofessional when pouring the wine, and the amount poured was below international standards.
Improper Utensils: Olives were served with a spoon instead of a fork, and the plates and utensils were not changed throughout the meal. These details do not match the high prices charged by the restaurant.
Overall, this experience was extremely disappointing. both the service and food quality fell far short of expectations. Not...
Read moreWe have visited Octave Rooftopbar on floor 49 and the restaurant on floor 45 for the last 5 times we were in Bangkok. Spending about 10.000 THB on great drinks and magnificant food each time, it always was a highlight on our trips.
This time it was a bit difficult to reserve in October 2024 tables on 49th and 45th floor for January 2025 due to a misfunctional reservation system, so the lady told me, that she would come back to me closer to the date, which she didn't. So I got in touch with her one week prior, and the reservation worked. On the day of the reservation, I got an email, reminding us of the dresscode and the fact, that on 49th floor a minimum consumption of 2.000 THB is mandatory!
Upon arrival I talked to several "managers", explaining, that we had two bookings (49th and45th floor) and if we would drink for 4.000 THB before Dinner, we would not see our dinner afterwards. After long and unpleasant discussion our mandatory consumption was reduced to 1.000 THB p.P. and we were placed on a wobbely side table directly before a loudspeaker (Btw: the chilled modern barmusic of former times was replaced by some technorap, where every second word was f*king).
On this place we were forgotten. We had to catch every waiter with a rope. While we were sitting in front of empty glasses we watched numerous guests, who did not apply to the dress code at all and nobody seemed to care.
After we reached our 2.000 THB we went to the 45th floor for dinner and it got even worse. We were placed on an outside table (as requested) an again forgotten. The food was plain (Example: As "Greating from the Chef" came some fluffy bread with butter in plastic - like you get in hospitals). Quality and kreativity completly gone but prices like a gourmet restaurant (and again the nuicance of adding 10% service and 8% tax on top). We left after the starters.
To sum it up: 1.) The view is great, they could not destroy that 2.) There are many exciting rooftop bars in BKK without such an attitude 3.) After many years our last experience with Marriott Octave...
Read moreWe stayed at the Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit as we wanted to spend a special night at the rooftop bar but the rooftop bar was a big let down. Once we secured a table, we proceeded to order drinks which were very expensive, especially after we received our cocktails which were full of ice and a very small amount of drink, so in essence the cocktail was very poor value as they were full of ice, and after we had a few sips, they were nearly empty which was disgusting and it felt like we were drinking kids mocktails with no alcohol. The standard waitresses staff were hit and miss and the chubby butch tomboy girl waitress was arrogantly rude to us as we asked if we could move tables to a another vacant table as there were smokers right next to us and their smoke was drifting over us, and the waitress said no we couldn't change tables, so then we spoke to what appeared to be the manager and he was happy for us to move. We were shocked and very pissed off about that arrogant female tomboy waitress. Additionally the DJ couldn't play her music at a sound level that would justify the style of music and had to keep turning the volume down as there was a sound check person on the roof top and the music kept getting turned down and then they finished at midnight although we were told that the music was going to continue to 2am, so there was no atmosphere after midnight on a Friday night rooftop bar in Bangkok which is just ridiculous. Overall we spent approximately 9,000 Thai baht or $450 Australian dollars at the hotel for one night and we were very very disappointed and we'll definitely never vist this hotel again and don't understand how people are giving this place 5 star...
