A Culinary Oasis in a Desert of Disappointing Hospitality
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)
Nestled on the ground floor of the Ascott Thonglor Bangkok, Kinki restaurant stands as a beacon of culinary excellence, shining brightly amidst the hotel's abyss of subpar service. During my regrettably brief stay at the Ascott, where my intentions to extend my visit were thwarted by the hotel's astoundingly inept customer service, Kinki emerged as the sole redeeming factor in an otherwise disappointing experience.
The allure of Kinki's exceptional cuisine was so powerful that I found myself drawn to its doors not once, but twice within the span of a single night. In a testament to the restaurant's unrivaled quality, I chose to indulge in two separate meals at Kinki, seeking solace and satisfaction in their masterfully crafted dishes.
From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I was enveloped in an atmosphere of warm hospitality and culinary expertise. The attentive staff, whose dedication to customer satisfaction stood in stark contrast to the hotel's own failings, guided me through a menu that showcased the finest in Japanese cuisine. Each recommendation was a reflection of their passion and knowledge, ensuring that my dining experience would be nothing short of extraordinary.
The dishes themselves were a symphony of flavors, each note perfectly composed to create a harmonious and unforgettable gastronomic journey. The sushi and sashimi, crafted with the utmost precision and using only the freshest ingredients, were a testament to the skill and artistry of Kinki's culinary team. Every bite was a revelation, transporting me to a realm of culinary bliss that stood in stark opposition to the frustrations encountered with the hotel.
In a cruel twist of irony, it was the hotel's own shortcomings that led me to discover the true gem within its walls. Had it not been for the Ascott's egregious mishandling of my stay, I may have never had the opportunity to experience the unparalleled delights offered by Kinki. The restaurant became my sanctuary, a place where I could escape the disappointments of my accommodation and find solace in the art of exceptional cuisine.
To those considering a stay at the Ascott Thonglor Bangkok, I offer this heartfelt advice: spare yourself the frustration and disappointment that plagued my own experience. The hotel's service leaves much to be desired, and the only saving grace within its confines is the presence of Kinki restaurant. If you find yourself drawn to this culinary oasis, I implore you to venture beyond the hotel's doors and seek accommodation elsewhere, for the true value of your stay will be found in the gastronomic delights of Kinki, rather than the subpar offerings of the Ascott.
In conclusion, Kinki restaurant stands as a testament to the power of exceptional cuisine, capable of shining brightly even in the face of the most disheartening hospitality experiences. It is a destination that demands to be savored, a culinary journey that will leave you forever changed. Just be sure to find a more worthy place to lay your head at night, for the Ascott Thonglor Bangkok is a hotel that fails to live up to the excellence found within the walls of...
Read moreKinki is located conveniently inside of the Ascott Hotel Thonglor. While it is independent from the hotel, it is where you will have breakfast if you have included in your booking package. However, if you have not pre-purchased the breakfast or you are here for luch and dinner, you cannot charge to your room, so make sure you bring your preferred payment and not just your room key. I usually get a little skeptical when I see "progressive Japanese", I have tried many which simply tried to hard and everything was spinned out of controlled or the opposite, nothing special, just plating and presentation. Kinki, to me is tipped to the latter. Most of the dishes here are just normal Japanese food items, but with great presentations, the more unique items are like the Kaizen Taco, the Wagyu Beef Yuke (Tartare) and the Sandwiches, which are usually offered in more upscale Japanese restaurant as course meals, and from esteemed specialty sandwiche shops in Japan. As for the food, fresh, high quality Sashmi. Perfectly grilled Gindara (Sable Fish), and perfect lean/fat ratio and tender deep fried pork cutlet. There is one "progress" element found in my dishes here, which is the truffle infused tartar sauce for the pork cutlet, that was about it. The only complain that I have is the breading on the pork cutlet, while it is the right thickness and crispy, it didn't stay on the cutlet what so ever. So I was eating the cutlet and the breading separately, someone forgot to dip the cutlet in the binder that is for sure. The price point is high for the locals, but fit for most foreigners. My bill was...
Read moreCame for a lovely experience at 9pm to this upper class japanese restaurant. The time for us to get our appetizers and beers and order food was maybe 9:20pm. We got our first meals around 9:30pm. While eating one staff told us at 9:45pm that NOW what the last order. So you can imagine when you just start to eat, someone tell you that ! Keep in mind this restaurant closes at 11pm ! When you accept a guest in a fine dining restaurant you let the customer order as he wish when he wish until 22:30 if you close at 11pm.
Others problems were :
Only 4 tables tonight and the staff did not manage our table smoothly while being two ! We had to remove the plates ourselves to make rooms for new meals... One of us did not order a new drink so his drink was removed in front of him. The staff need a training in restaurant hospitality and how to manage a dining table.
Overall a sense of rushness at only 10PM for a bill around 6000 THB is not acceptable.
Conclusion very good food but terrible service.
Wont...
