Buffet Dining Experience at JW Marriott Bangkok, Sukhumvit Soi 2

I recently dined at the buffet at JW Marriott Bangkok, arriving at 8:00 PM using a 50% discount booked through Eatigo. My primary curiosity was to see whether the variety and quality of the dishes remained consistent with the early evening service, typically around 5 PM.

To my delight, the selection was still quite diverse. A personal favorite was the Caesar salad station — beautifully arranged and well-executed. The cheese twists were exceptional: perfectly crisp, as though freshly baked, and far from soggy. The cross lettuce was fresh and crunchy, and I appreciated the inclusion of anchovies, croutons, and other classic toppings that made the salad feel complete and authentic.

Another standout was the lentil soup — warm, flavorful, and comforting, like a hug from the inside. The grilled meats were nicely cooked and tender, and the oysters were impressively fresh, sliding down smoothly and bursting with ocean flavor.

One unexpected delight was the Miang Kham — a traditional Thai bite-sized snack that artfully combines savory and sweet. With ingredients like dried shrimp, toasted coconut, shallots, roasted peanuts, diced lime, and bird’s eye chili, all wrapped in a fresh betel leaf and topped with a rich palm-sugar-based sauce, it was a true highlight. I would go as far as to say: this is a must-try dish at this buffet.

On the downside, the hotate sashimi was slightly disappointing — the texture felt a bit tough and lacked the sweet, succulent freshness I was hoping for. The salmon sashimi, however, was much better. As for the pasta station, the dish I sampled was average and didn’t particularly stand out in terms of flavor.

In summary, the buffet offers a good variety of well-prepared dishes, and it’s a pleasant dining experience overall. However, at full price, I might hesitate. With the Eatigo discount, the net price came to THB 1,331, which felt fair and worth the experience. Without the discount, though, the value proposition becomes...

25 minutes for check in even was a prior booking and only person at the reception no Word of welcomed or hope you enjoy your stay, no info on WiFi bfast or dinning options even when asked about dining options the only answer received is there is a info folder in your room Booking was for two adults but room only set up for one adult, 45minutes to get additional bathroom and bathroom amenities The minibarwas completely turned off and all water outside by morning the minibar hardly cooled so impossible for a cold glass of water Order a cheese pizza which came including tax and service charge to 475thb and was worst pizza ever, raw undercooked sloppy crust with zero browning but just pale white, loaded with tomato sauce like no tomorrow and very little cheese which never melted properly and also zero browning or bubbeling and took almost an hour Breakfast buffet can only be described at rude and careless, egg station chef refused to make scrambled eggs, waffle station chef was not for order, croissant were old stale hard and dry at no time any waiter offered or informed about coffee During the entire stage the staff was successful however in not once great or thank Ofcourse when checking out no polite small talk or thank you for your stay but instead try pretend forgot deposit and need to remind them three times until they finally returned it(no issue about checking the room they just pretended they don’t know about deposit first, when showing the receipts for deposit play dumb pretend not know what it is and only when telling them stop games they suddenly pulled out either envelope from a big pile of envelopes with room safety deposits Horrific stay After less then an hour of arrival my will to complain was broken and only was looking to get it over with and check out As a loyal return customer to Marriott for over 30years I can only say that I will never book a Marriott property again any where in the world this was the most shameful and unprofessional hotel experience (considering only 4star plus...

It’s truly one of the most disappointing buffet dining experience I have never thought to receive from Marriott hotels.

While the buffet offered a wide variety of dishes, including seafood, cold cuts, sushi, and curries, there was a noticeable delay in adding the food. The waiting time did somehow affect our satisfaction to the overall experience.

On the atmosphere, while the seating was comfortable, the overly dim atmosphere and excessively cold air conditioning made it uncomfortable for us throughout the meal. I understand that the temperature preference can be subjective and may vary daily, but it was particularly cold during my visit.

The most disappointing experience was the behavior of the staff during the payment process.

When asking about the available offers, the staff member displayed a fairly rude and rushed attitude.

Without providing any details or explanation, they simply mentioned the offer’s name and pressured us to make a decision in a dismissive and unprofessional tone. This behavior was not only unexpected but was also entirely inconsistent with the level of service I’ve come to associate with Marriott hotels.

I have dined and stayed at numerous Marriott properties, and this was, regrettably, the most disappointing and unacceptable experience I’ve had so far.

I fully understand that the demands of the job can be stressful, but it is crucial that staff maintain professionalism and courtesy at all times. We were only seeking clarification in a polite manner and were met with an attitude that was not warranted.

I hope the hotel will take this feedback...

JW Café at JW Marriott Bangkok offers a refined buffet experience that balances quality, variety, and ambiance. Whether booked through Eatigo or HungryHub, the value is excellent—especially with discounts applied. Food Highlights: Seafood Station: Fresh oysters (Fine de Clair, Jersey, Normandy), juicy blue crab, sweet scallops, and even king crab on occasion. Thai Corner: Miang Kham is a must-try—vibrant, balanced, and beautifully presented. Western Selection: Caesar salad station is well-executed, cheese twists are crisp, and honey-baked ham is a standout. Indian Cuisine: Fragrant biryani and buttery curry dishes are flavorful and satisfying. Japanese Station: Salmon sashimi is fresh, though hotate can be hit-or-miss. Sushi and sashimi selections are solid but not the highlight. Carving Station: Tomahawk and crispy pork roast are available, though quality varies slightly. Desserts: Ice cream, crepes, and ruby crispy are well-made. Cheese section is nice, but bread options are limited. Service & Atmosphere: Staff are attentive and helpful, with smooth reservation handling and follow-up calls. Seating is comfortable and not overly crowded, offering a sense of privacy. The ambiance is elegant yet relaxed—ideal for both casual and celebratory dining. Value: At full price, the buffet may feel premium, but with discounts (Eatigo, HungryHub), it becomes a great deal for the quality and experience. JW Café delivers a well-rounded buffet with more hits than misses. Perfect for seafood lovers, fans of international cuisine, and those seeking a polished dining experience in central Bangkok.

This is my 2nd visit to JW Cafe. First time was company dinner. Second time was because my friend wanted to have hotel buffet. Bought the grand dinner from hungryhub and came on a Saturday. Very value for money. There are so many food varieties. But like so many buffets I have tried before, there will be some hits and some miss. But JW cafe does it right by having more hits than misses. There are various type of oysters such as Fine De Clair, Jersey and Normandy. Seafood station: Seafood selection are really good and fresh. King crab was a delightful surprise. Blue crab was so juicy and sweet! Scallops was delightfully fresh! Carving station: Beef wellington wasn't great, but it was good. Honey bake ham was one of my favorite item. Pasta was perfectly done. Briyani was very delicious that I had a second helping! Oh and Im surprised to see iberico ham here. There are so many varieties that I personally find it difficult to try everything even on my second visit. With such value for money package you can find on hungryhub, I definitely recommend everyone to at least give it a try. I will be back soon for sure!
