1-Star Review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (if I could give zero stars, I would)
I’m not one to leave negative reviews, but my experience at Grand 5 Hotel & Plaza in Sukhumvit, Bangkok was so bad that I felt compelled to warn others.
Confusing Lobby & Unwelcoming Receptionist First impression? The lobby was confusing, and there was zero online info to guide us. The receptionist didn’t greet us with a simple “Hi” or “Hello.” Instead, he gave us a rude hand gesture like we were bothering him. The male receptionist had such a grumpy attitude, as if we were getting a free stay. Very unprofessional and disrespectful. On the other hand, the bell boy was decent and helpful.
Terrible Odor Walking down the corridor, I could smell the strong scent of weed and cigarette smoke. It was overwhelming to the point that I nearly fainted. Upon entering the room, the smell got worse. My wife and I were holding our noses—it was that bad. We could hear every single conversation happening in the hallway and neighboring rooms, which was incredibly disturbing.
Dirty Room & Mouldy Bathroom To make things worse, the bathroom sink was full of mold, and the bath towels looked like they hadn’t been changed in decades—filthy and worn out. The room felt absolutely disgusting, and we couldn’t wait to leave.
Disastrous Breakfast The next morning, we decided to try breakfast, and I honestly regretted it. The food was inedible, and I almost vomited. I’ve never seen a worse breakfast at any hotel.
Worst Stay Ever This was our last night in Bangkok, and it was completely ruined by this nightmare of a hotel. I had chosen this hotel based on positive reviews, but I now regret it. This place doesn’t deserve even a 1-star rating, let alone 4 stars. The hotel is dirty, the staff is rude, and the overall experience was absolutely terrible.
I strongly urge anyone looking to stay in Bangkok to avoid this hotel at all costs. There are countless better options in the city. This was hands down the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in, and I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone.
To the authorities: Please look into this hotel’s compliance with 4-star standards. Guests come to enjoy their time, not to endure a nightmare.

Read moreA very horrible stay and experience at this hotel property. We booked this hotel based on recommendations. Friends of mine actually told me that it was a good location but, if what you're looking for is to be close to **, ***** and the worst that Bangkok can offer. Then the place might be suitable. I do not recommend property at all, there are others that are better. Now let's talk about service, we were checked in by a horrible receptionist from the Philippines. She was unable to communicate nothing in Thai and was completely rude to my girlfriend who check in with me. Absolutely no smile or charisma, we did not feel welcome at all. The room was very apart, the towels are horrible. All of them torn in the bad state. Awful smell in the quarter. Worst of all, is the lack of communication and customer service between the Bellman and the receptionist. My girlfriend, who was visiting from Laos was refused entry to the floor that we were staying in and had to stay in the lobby for a very long time until she was allowed finally to go up. She did not have a key to the elevator and was told by the bellman that she needed to call me. This is ridiculous. Was she confused for a *? She registered with her passport as well as I did a check-in. She should have been recognized by the receptionist regardless of the language barrier, that she was just sitting there and waiting in the lobby trying to go up the elevator. Why would the Bellman not communicate to the front desk, even using the phone as a translator to explain that there's a gas that wants to go up? Overall, I made a complaint to the receptionist and she very rudely dismissed my concern saying that she was not involved that she has nothing to do with it. Just a very awful attitude. Receptionist is not suitable for hospitality. location, service cleaning this was so awful, that I personally left a day earlier forfeiting the...
Read moreThe hotel is conveniently located, providing guests with a plethora of dining options, from charming restaurants to casual roadside eateries. When you enter, you'll find a plaza on the ground floor, while the first floor boasts a lobby and a dining area where guests can gather.
The rooms, although modest in size, are kept tidy, ensuring a decent level of cleanliness. However, I encountered some frustration when attempting to contact the front desk and room service; my calls went unanswered, leaving me feeling a bit neglected.
The breakfast offerings leave much to be desired. The selection is quite limited, making it difficult to find anything appealing. On a couple of occasions, we opted to eat at the hotel purely out of necessity due to time constraints; on days when we could spare the time, we preferred to dine outside. Additionally, the hygiene standards in the restaurant did not meet expectations and it often appeared under-staffed, which only added to the overall lackluster dining experience.
