Hooters Nana | American Restaurant & Sports Bar — Restaurant in Khlong Toei Subdistrict

Big disappointment after my last visit in 2019. Hooters on Nana in Bangkok was 5 out of 5 stars in my book in the year 2019 november. Always an amazing atmosphere and excellent service. That was the last time I visited there.

Decided to go on holiday in Bangkok again in november 2023 and ofcourse I had to visit at Hooters on Nana. As I walked in, there were 2 customers at the bar besides me at about noon on wednesday 29th of november 2023. There were no staff to be seen. I had to wait at the front for about 5 minutes until a waitress came to take my order. This is not a problem for me. I greeted the waitress and she didnt greet me back or say anything or even smile. This made me feel stupid. I ordered my drink and again she didnt say anything and just went to get my order. I sat down, waited for about 5 minutes and then got my order. I thanked the waitress and again she didnt say anything to me. At this point I feel like I am 100% not welcome to the Hooters bar. I drink my drink and now decide to go to another bar because it is starting to feel awkward now. I order my bill and after paying the bill and leaving a tip I visit the toilets before exiting the bar. As I am about to exit the bar the waitress now speaks to me for the first time. She says thank you for the tip.

Is this what the service is nowadays in Hooters Nana? You have to leave a tip to the waitress staff to get them to even say one word to you? Well, this was the unfriendliest bar I visited during my Bangkok holiday in 2023 and this year (2024) I will not be coming back to Hooters for a visit. They run a tight ship; everything is very on-brand. The food is the same as any other Hooters (a few Thai options, but why come here to order what you can get cheaper anywhere). Personally I find the American menu a bit heavy and simple - mostly freezer to grill/deep fryer, then add salad and garnishes - but it's cooked and presented well, and sometimes that's what you want. Prices are slightly expensive, even compared to other sports bars and burger chains. What I do particularly like is the music, which is very current, upbeat and also plays many foreign pop/rap songs which are good to discover. And the service is exemplary; the women are super-cute as you would expect, but they really are trained better than any other establishment I can think of. Very friendly with excellent English but not too chatty (they are busy), they check on you often, and are quick and efficient. The ambience of Hooters is far more wholesome than you might assume, and the staff will often start dancing and doing their routines and seem to be having fun. This particular branch has one of the best people-watching situations possible opposite the notorious Nana Plaza Go-Go area, although it can mean that a certain type of sleazy expat tends to monopolize those front seats for much of the day. Also you can smoke here, which I don't like, but smokers tend to gravitate to those seats around the outside. We were there because I wanted to have chilli beef nachos. Unfortunately, without being bumped the waitress inexplicably plastered my wife with the full plate of chilli beef nachos just as she was bring them to our table, I was only partially covered. They were apologetic and brought hand cloths and wet ones. We cleaned up as best we could. They then clarified they would bring out another chill beef nacho plate... Up till now we had taken it as the accident it was. However, they then brought out Chicken nachos and I lost my humor. I had come specifically for chilli beef. I was able to scrape the chicken off and eat the cheesey nachos but it really lacked taste without the chilly beef. Oh well. Finally they presented the bill and without another apology charged us for everything we ordered. I guess, we'll within their rights to bill the meal, even though it wasn't the meal I ordered & we had been literally served what I wanted in our laps. My wife's clothes had been plastered with chilly and cheese and we had to immediately return to our hotel to get changed. I had thought at minimum they would say the nachos were complementary or serve us an apology drink on the house. But no... Worse still, my wife thought it proper to tip! Not the experience I would have expected. Shame on you Hooters. I certainly will be taking this as a learning experience and looking for better service elsewhere in future.
