A Great Evening Turned Sour
We booked a buffet dinner via Eatigo, taking advantage of a 40% discount. The deal brought the price down from 1,950 Baht to 975 Baht per person—an undeniably fantastic offer.
The food was exceptional—superb quality, beautifully presented, and thoroughly enjoyable. On this front, the experience was flawless.
However, the billing process completely ruined the evening.
Here’s what happened: For two diners, the cost should have been:
975 x 2 = 1,950 Baht (discounted price) 250 Baht for the soft drinks package 360 Baht for a glass of wine Subtotal: 2,560 Baht
10% service charge = 2,816 Baht 7% VAT = 3,013.12 Baht But the final bill came to 3,639.07 Baht! Why? Because the service charge was calculated on the original price (before the discount), while the VAT was calculated on the discounted amount. Confusing and, frankly, unjustifiable.
This wouldn’t be acceptable at any establishment, but we’re talking about the Sheraton Grande—an international hotel chain. This practice gave me the unpleasant feeling of being scammed. While the difference is “only” 625 Baht, it’s not the amount that bothers me but the principle. It feels deceitful.
The restaurant manager attempted to explain the calculations with a calculator in hand, but his approach only aggravated the situation. I then spoke to the hotel’s duty manager, who merely stated it was "company policy." No effort was made to address my concerns or ease my frustration.
Why is VAT calculated on the discounted price but service charge on the full price? It’s nonsensical and left me feeling cheated. A shame, as it overshadowed what could have been a...
Read moreAn indulgent hotel buffet experience situated in the heart of Bangkok, boasting an exceptionally convenient location accessible via both BTS and MRT lines, with ample parking available for those arriving by car. I visited during their Saturday evening Grand Seafood Dinner and was impressed by the overall curation of premium selections.
Pros: The buffet surpasses typical expectations for a Saturday spread, rivaling the caliber of high-end Sunday brunches. Highlights include perfectly roasted prime rib, briny bursts of Salmon Roe (Ikura), thick-cut Hamachi sashimi, and a trio of top-tier imported French oysters—Normandie, Fine de Claire, and Irish. Notably, the selection excludes lower-grade Korean oysters, maintaining an elevated seafood standard.
Cons: Dessert offerings fall short for a venue of this pricing tier; the ice cream selection was disappointingly limited to sherbet-style flavors, lacking depth and creaminess. The Italian station underdelivers—only pasta was available, with no trace of pizza, risotto, or other signature fare. Seating arrangements are cramped, which detracts from the overall comfort and ambiance. Service can be inconsistent, with certain periods of delay observed during peak dining hours.
Overall, a great dining experience that successfully delivers on quality and selection, particularly for seafood lovers, despite a few areas that could benefit...
Read moreThe location is super convenience, just next to Asok BTS and has a bridge to connect in between.
I'm having the lunch buffet in weekday, the regular price is 1,500 BAHT, I reserved via Eatigo and get a 30% discount.
The salad bar has many choices, above average. The seafood provided oyster, shrimp and mussel. The 🦪 is tiny size but very fresh, not very salty one. The 🦐 is extremely good, firm texture and very fresh.
The Japanese corner provide sashimi, sushi and tempura. The choices are limited but the quality is very good.
The hot plates are general, choices are also limited.
The best food is the roasted beef, very tender and juicy, I tasted 2 rounds unfortunately my stomach cannot afford more.
The foods are very good but the service is also renowned. All waiters/waitresses always keep smiling and I really enjoy to have meal in such comfortable atmosphere.
I will recommend this restaurant for the diner who are looking for quality food...
