Otto Bar — Restaurant in Khlong Toei Subdistrict

Walked in because it seemed like a fun dive style bar with cover bands playing old school rock/metal. You immediately get swarmed by the hostesses, which is not a problem per se but it is definitely a little bit weird that a rock/metal bar would have hostesses solliciting for lady drinks.

The biggest issue I have is that the bill seemed to vary with every single order, even when the drink orders were the same and unlike other bars where they replace your bill and give you a new itemized / summarized one, here they just stack the bills which is a bit deceptive. Expect to pay between 600-900+ baht for a small beer and two SangSom lady drinks. The small beers are 150-180 baht and mixers are charged seperately on top of the liquor.

There was one lady who kept asking for a lady drink and I said no every single time, she would then take my order and order the same thing for herself to make it look like like it wasn't a lady drink but it would still be added to the bill, which is super scummy. I found out after 3-4 drinks and cut her off and wouldn't let her take my order again. She would phrase it as:

"Do you want x drink?" "Ok" "Drink for me?" "No" "x drink, ok" "Yes"

And then would order the same thing for herself. Which is highly deceptive and a scummy way to go about it.

In defense of some of the other hostesses, they were very sweet and respectful, especially the one with the "Go ahead, make my day" tank top. But I guess she wasn't doing her job that well because the manager kept yelling at her, lol.

Also when I asked what the total was because the hostesses kept asking for lady drinks, they had the bar calculate the total and it came to 4300 baht. I ordered another beer and said ok to another 2 lady drinks and I guess the manager got a bit worried about me being able to settle the bill so they demanded that I close out the total after that one. When I asked what the total was, all of a sudden it was 6800 baht. After I settled the bill they were also very adamant about a tip on top of it, which is not very nice.

I don't mind the charges and will roll with it for one night because it's an easy and cheap way to scope out if a place actually wants you as a regular patron or not, and it seems that this place mostly makes its money off tourists who walk in once and never come back. A bit of a shame when you live here and were looking forward to finding a fun little dive bar but I guess they see the couple of thousand baht as a win when I could be spending money at the bar every weekend. Unfortunately due to these practices I won't be coming here again.

I guess if you're prepared to fend off 5-6 hostesses pressuring you for lady drinks with every order, it could be a fun (but relatively expensive bar) to go watch some live music on the weekends. This is a dive bar, and one needs to take that into consideration with the four stars. It's four stars for a dive bar, not for a regular bar. Dive bar stuff happens here. Bills are wrong. People pass out. There's drama and crying. There are obnoxious farangs from time to time. Some of the staff are wasted by 11pm.

Without the band, this place would be less than one star. There really would be no reason to drink here, unless you really like overpriced drinks and being hounded for lady drinks all night. Some of the women who work here live upstairs, which is kind of terrifying. If the band isn't playing, go somewhere else, anywhere else. But if the band is playing and you dig classic rock and metal ala the first three Metallica albums, this the best...

Got totally ripped off here. Great band and decent venue. I just trusted the hostess and staff too much, she made me feel at home and on request I bought a lady drink whick I know r expensive by comparison. Then a friend of hers asked for a drink and a member of staff. So I had bought 2 extra drinks plus 4 for the hostess and after 2 hours I saw so many tickets being put in my bin I asked for the sum total. It was 3.700 baht after just 2 hours. My drinks were 1,000 baht generously. I’ve been in many Thai bars where similar drinks are bought but never been ripped off this much. As a local said just don’t buy anyone else drinks....
