I stayed for three weeks here and the below is my personal opinion please note that I really wanted to like this place. I also changed three rooms during my stay because of so many reasons listed below.
The good: *Friendly staff *Exchange shop,ATM,laundry and 7 eleven are very close.
The bad: *All rooms are noisy, the windows are paper thin and you can hear guests through walls clearly. Not a great place if you want to actually rest and sleep till noon, maybe it’s good if you wake up at like 7am.I even stayed on a top floor and I can hear people in the street!! *One of the rooms had bed bugs and I got several little red spots on my legs after sleeping there, I called staff more than once but they couldn’t do a thing and just sprayed a regular bug killer which doesn’t do a thing, after that the room had a very strong smell that made it impossible to sleep in even after leaving for 2H. Check the video! *This is a rebranded 2 star hotel at best, it was called Akyra and you can google it. Even the same old name is there on Grab when you order a taxi and you can see it on some of the items in the room, yes it has been renovated but a poor job has been done. *On more than one occasion the house keeping team were noisy (loud phones/laughing/talking) right next to my door early morning. *All the three rooms had stains in different places and were not super clean *House keeping only put new bottles of water and emptied trash cans which is something I can do myself. They never wipe the floors or clean surfaces, in a the rain season shoes can get a bit muddy and mud needs to be wiped of the floor. *I didn’t try the food in the hotel but only once I ordered an espresso which was just some brown hot water more like an americano and was a total fail. *They refused to even do a partial refund which was very strange as I told them I wanted to go elsewhere, there is the Novotel right next door which looks WAY better and also a Meridian, both walking distance. *The water in the shower is not always hot, most of the time it gets cold then all of a sudden becomes hot which made relaxing showers impossible. *They insisted on a deposit although they do not have a mini-bar (only an empty small fridge)in the room and I told them I will pay cash for anything IF I order but they refused, first they demanded 5000 Baht then after a bit they said 3000 is ok! This is the only hotel in Thailand (and this is my 15th trip) that insist on a deposit. *They do not have an iron or iron board in the room which is strange for a “5-star hotel” *The AC temp is controlled by the hotel and set at 23c you can go higher but not lower, you have to call reception several times to make them understand you want to control it manually and let them enable that from their end! *On one occasion when I wanted to change my room at night they had nobody to help, I had to push the bag cart from room to room, and even was asked to take it back. 5-stars right? *As above, from the evening till early morning there is only ONE employee in the reception for the whole hotel. *Again this is not a 5-star hotel not even a 4-star one. Do your research and take your time do not trust the “local” guides and the fake reviews on Google please. There is a reason it is affordable. *At least half of the staff do not...
Read moreTastoria at Asok is a fine boutique hotel with 56 rooms of various sizes on 7 floors. It is relatively new and within 5 minutes walk to the brand new Emsphere Mall. It is located on a side street, which is a little smelly with hawker stalls taking up most of the sidewalks. The food at both restaurants are excellent and good value for their class. The rooftop pool is very small and awkward. It is inside the rooftop bar/restaurant. The pool has a glass view panel from the bar, making the pool a little creepy and uncomfortable to swim.
Compared to a typical hotel room, the premier rooms have a wet bar with sink and a coffee capsule machine but no microwave. There is also a small dining table for 2 and a balcony. On the downside, most of the rooms only have showers. The water pressure is weak, so weak that the rain shower doesn't work. The hotel service is friendly, responsive, but not proactive, which is required for a 5 star hotel. Not all the lights work in our room until we asked for repair. Coffee is not always replenished daily until we remind them. There is no turn down service, beddings are simply stacked on the bed. This really makes a difference when we return to the room, which feels like we were in a hostel instead of a hotel. The bed itself is not a king-size bed, but two twins push together that don't match the wall mounted bedheads.
All in all, Tastoria is not a 5 star but a 4 star boutique hotel with excellent food services. Depending on the season, it is a great value for its location...
Read moreThe hotel is a nice, clean boutique hotel. The staff is very helpful, attentive and sweet. The rooms are so spacious and I love the little balconies they have with the rooms. Beds are very comfortable. The location is wonderful, with so many eateries just at walking distance, even if you don't want to to out, grab gives us the options to get it delivered very conveniently. There are atleast five-six options for 7 eleven (walking distance). If you like shopping, emporium, emquartier and terminal 21 is at walkable distances, whereas platinum mall would be roughly a 30 minutes drive (in traffic hours) and 17-18 minutes by car otherwise.
Another best part about the hotel was their breakfast timings, my husband and I don't like waking up on holidays to make it for breakfast before 10-10:30 (usually the timings in every place we have stayed before). But this hotel allows you to order breakfast from 7 am - 2 pm. The food is super yummy, with the perfect quantity , do try their eggs benedicts with bacon/ ham or spinach, its pretty good.
Apart from this, we decided to stay there before and after our trip to Koh Samui, and will not hesitate choosing it again for our next trip to Bangkok :) We had booked the junior suite and the hotel was kind enough to upgrade us to the one bedroom suite. Thanks...
