I came for my birthday last Friday - August 11. It was about 2:30 pm. We ordered two sushi roll sets for my dinner partner and I. The server brought out the first set. We waited. Finally, I asked my dinner partner to go ahead and eat, but he felt awkward since it was my birthday. We asked the server who went to check. After 25 minutes the second order came out. The first had long been finished. I asked to speak with the manager and the server told me he was out doing errands. It seems as though someone should have been in charge. I asked her what she would do to compensate for the horrible experience on my birthday. She gave me a bottle of water. The food was NOT inexpensive, but I was genuinely embarrassed: first my host who was treating me for a birthday dinner had to eat without me. Second, when we asked to reconcile the issue, no one would speak with us or help us. All-in-all a terrible experience. Food was quite good when it came. Won’t go back nor will I recommend anyone to do so. There are too many restaurants in Iconsiam with better service.
UPDATE: I appreciate the owners’ response below, but they still fail to see that the issue was NOT about an order taking so long. It was about 1/2 the order being delivered and the other half not. Being sets, the orders were exactly the same except for a different sushi roll. How can one order be brought out and the other that is 90% the same be delayed because of customers before me? The meal that was delayed for so long should have been comped not given 10%. The server told me the 10% was not for the service delay, but was given to everyone on their birthday. So, I will take the complimentary meal the owner offered and edit this review accordingly. I own 3 restaurants and a spa so I understand mistakes happening, and customers needing to be compensated for those mistakes. I don’t understand, however, illogical...
Read moreThe name of the restaurant on Google does not seem to match the English signage or I may need to get some thicker glasses. It says Korean No.1 Maki and Roll restaurant in English and it does say Dong Kyung San Check in Korean above the English. If you are standing in front of Korean Number 1 you are at the right place.
We had a difficult time deciding on what to eat in the mall because of the sheer number of options. Walked by this restaurant and I initially wanted the curry kimchi rice but they wouldn't let me order it in the set menu like all the other items. I ended up ordering the Tonkatsu with rice because I really wanted the side dishes. We also got the Rose Tonkatsu which was somewhat spicy but delicious. They gave us a free (crab?) cone which was a fantastic appetizer.
There was no waiting (we went on a weekday in January, however it was close to CNY) and we were unable to get a spot at the buffet around the corner which required reservations.
Reasonably priced, prompt and friendly service, and...
