In a city like Bangkok these days where the omakase hype drives prices up to as high as 7K - 10K baht/person, it's tough to find a spot that can back that price tag up with uncompromising quality and impeccable service.
Sushi Niwa is truly a hidden gem that achieves such a standard without breaking the bank. Even their most modest tier (the Authentic Menu) at 2,999 baht/person for 14 courses is incredible; sushi rice was perfectly seasoned, fish was incredibly fresh, and cooked dishes carefully executed. A pleasant surprise was that even at that price tier, there were two Otoro courses and a one course with a very generous portion of Hokkaido Bafun Uni.
Probably fair to expect weekends to be more packed, but at least on the two weekdays I've been, my entourage was the only table for the day. While it was nice to have the luxury of a private room all to ourselves, really hoping more people realize what a find...
Read moreIt was my first time trying Omakase, and it has got to be in the land of smiles! 🤗 My boyfriend and I visited on a Monday, and amusingly, we were the only ones there. It felt like I'd reserved the entire restaurant to celebrate his birthday HAHAHAHA. The sashimi were super fresh and delicious. I really appreciate how lovely and friendly their staff were. I'm so glad that my boyfriend enjoyed this dinner, and I'm grateful that my first Omakase experience turned out to be a great one! The only downside was our visit in March 2023 coincided with renovations on the other side. I was disappointed because another reason I picked this restaurant was for the pool, and thought that I could capture some pretty shots there. Still, give this...
Read moreHad a 2999++ Baht set, and it could have been better. Some of the sushi is difficult to chew. I expect better quality ingredients at this price.
The service is subpar. There is no parking outside the restaurant. The parking inside is limited and has no valet. The choice was either not parking, or expected to move the car while eating which will make for a very bad omakase experience. It was only after I refused to move the car while dining that the team was willing to just take the key and move the car to accommodate other diners.
My friend was late for 15 minutes. While waiting, there was no offer for drinks. There was also no waiters around to take order.
This is not the kind of products and service expected at this price point. Unless there is serious attempt to improve, I highly recommend against coming to...
