I had such a wonderful experience at the Diplomat Bar at Conrad Bangkok. On my first visit, I enjoyed a refreshing Virgin Mojito and a classic Pad Thai – both excellent. This time, as a solo traveler wanting to unwind, I tried their Afternoon Tea (available for the next three months), and it truly exceeded my expectations.
Having lived in London, I know good Afternoon Tea – and this easily matches the very best. My highlights were the Roasted Cauliflower Tart, the Truffled Free-Range Egg, and the perfectly executed Scotch Egg. On the sweet side, the Eton Mess and Lemon Posset Brûlée were unforgettable – both beautifully presented and full of flavor.
The atmosphere is calm, elegant, and refined – a true oasis in the city. The staff were extremely attentive, kind, and made me feel completely at ease.
One of the best Afternoon Tea experiences I’ve ever had – a perfect mix of creativity, quality, and warm hospitality. Highly...
Read moreWe came here for afternoon tea (3 people). Since the tea set is for 2 persons we ended up ordering one more dish and paying for extra tea and coffees - so it came to almost exactly 1k pp which isn't bad at all for a 5-star hotel lobby bar in Bangkok.
The tea set theme was a honey-based "Around the World" featuring savory snacks and dessert with tastes from various countries. The set was presented well, though the waitress was very soft spoken so we couldn't really hear what was behind each thing. Yuzu marinated watermelon (Japan) and chicken melt (USA) were my favorites. The ones with crisps ingredients were a bit stale. The other dish we ordered was the New York slider, those were great.
Their tea selection isn't big at all ~10 options, compared to say 1823 Ronnefeldt in Gaysorn, I guess I was expecting a dedicated tea list as opposed to a small section on their regular menu.
Overall ambience was really nice, good value...
Read moreThis is a trendy, upper class bar & grill (I think they market themselves as a night club) located in the Conrad hotel near the US Embassy on wireless road. I stopped by on a Monday before 11am and ordered a B-Sweet cocktail, which was created for the Thailand seasonal dinning promotion 2016. It's an interpretation of Thailand best known dessert, mango sticky rice. I was not disappointed, it was delicious. It was silky smooth as described. I also ordered the Gia Yang Esan, which was superb. The accompanying dipping sauce, in my opinion, is what makes the dish, a spicy-sweet lime garlic infused sauce with cilantro. Expect to pay higher than average prices here as compared to other bars in Thailand. They do add a 10% service charge to the bill. It is a nice casual place to eat, visit or just relax and...
