I chose CHAR Bangkok to celebrate a special occasion with my partner after reading many positive reviews. I made a reservation several days in advance to secure a table with a good view, which we did receive.

However, once seated, we were told that up to six dishes were unavailable. Given the already small menu, this was disappointing and limited our choices. It would have been helpful if the staff had informed us earlier, as I might have reconsidered dining elsewhere for such an important day. Still, I decided not to make a fuss and adjusted my plans.

I ordered the chicken, and my partner had the lamb. While the lamb was perfectly cooked and flavorful, my chicken was undercooked. At first, I assumed the unusual color was due to the cooking method and ate a few pieces. But after cutting further, it became clear that the meat wasn’t properly cooked. I raised this with the staff, who were polite and confirmed with the chef that it was indeed undercooked.

They offered to remake the dish, but it took a while, understandably, as they wanted to ensure it was safe to eat. By the time it arrived, I had lost my appetite out of concern and didn’t eat it. My partner ate it and said it was overcooked. The staff apologized and offered two complimentary mojitos and two scoops of ice cream, which we appreciated.

The chill-out soft music sets the perfect tone for an evening of unwinding and good vibes, while the beautifully designed layout provides a stunning view of the Bangkok skyline. The comfort and attention to detail are evident, with elegant seating arrangements, atmospheric lighting, and overall aesthetics that create a luxurious yet laid-back experience. A special shout-out to the incredible hospitality staff, who made my repeat visit memorable. Hostess Ladda greeted me warmly and ensured I had the best spot to enjoy the view. Servers Guide and Sasi were in over-drive, attentive and friendly, always anticipating my needs and making spot-on recommendations for food, drinks, dessert, and possible excursions. Apple and But were equally exceptional, providing impeccable service with genuine smiles and a great sense of hospitality befitting of a VIP. Outstanding teamwork.

I initially came across this restaurant on TikTok, drawn by its picturesque view, which led me to make a reservation and visit. However, upon arrival, I was disappointed by the lack of warmth and hospitality from both the reception staff and the servers. Their demeanor was far from welcoming, and I felt quite uncomfortable throughout my dining experience.

The service was not up to the standard I had anticipated, and I found this to be one of the most disconcerting experiences I’ve had since my arrival in Thailand. While I am unsure of the exact cause, the unfriendliness of the staff significantly detracted from the overall ambiance of the restaurant.

Based on this experience, I would not recommend this establishment to others. Should the management read this review, I would appreciate a formal apology.
