We had high expectations going into Niche given the menu and the photos we saw of it. The cocktails were a bit too sweet for our taste and lacked enough alcohol but their creativity and presentation were top.
We started with the oysters and you could taste the freshness. We were warned that the sauce was very spicy but I found it extremely mild. I think they may have toned down their sauce for tourists but I wanted it significantly more spicy. I could barely tell that there was any spice in it at all. For our main course we had the meat loverâs dish with the hangar steak. Our main course was cooked to perfection, the flavors were absolutely delicious, and the presentation was what you would expect of a restaurant in this class. The oysters were a good start but this main course raised the bar and further raised our already exceeded expectations. When dessert arrived we were absolutely stunned at the combinations. They continued to heighten and exceed expectations throughout the evening. This restaurant definitely delivered. The topping on all of it was a surprise dessert at the end to help us celebrate our anniversary at no oneâs request. They just took it upon themselves to help us celebrate and it wasnât just a cheap slice of cake or something like that. They actually went through the effort of making a beautiful presentation that met the standards of the rest of their dishes giving us an array of flavors.
As the only diners in the restaurant for the majority of our meal the service at few times felt more like we had a stalker than a server. She was ready to tend to all of our needs but early on we just needed a little space to decide what we wanted to eat. That only happened on a few occasions though. For most of the evening she properly set us up for the next course. Our server was also incredible at making recommendations. She did not take long to make the recommendations and highlighted 2 items for each course. Towards the end of the evening, after we finished dessert, we were kind of left alone which is a shame because all there was left to do was pay. Two more tables of diners had shown up when our dessert was served so she may have been adjusting still. Itâs just that they serve this delicious main course, end dinner on a high note with the most amazing dessert, and then rather than leaving talking about the dessert we were talking about how long it took for us to have the opportunity to pay them.
Some people may be turned off by a smaller menu but I love it because it means that they think they can execute those dishes perfectly. They executed all of our dishes perfectly. We would absolutely...
Read moreI came here because of Eatigo's discount, but I was intrigued by it when I had visited Sra Bua. Their menu isn't diverse, but it has all the usual suspects, scallops, oyster, prawn, beef, pork, and fish. What's interesting is that you can have everything In Asian or non-Asian style. I tried most of my dishes in Asian style. The chef really knows how to create sauce that enhances the natural flavour of the ingredients. I really enjoyed the scallops and braised beef. The dishes aren't as sophisticated as those of it''s Michellin star awarded neighbor, but the taste is not that far behind. The other difference is the service. The staff needs to do better. That's all I will say about that. It's not cheap, but it's...
