This place is always our to-go place for celebrating life events. It sits inside Siam Paragon so it’s super easy to visit and offers great quality Japanese meal. If it was a rainy day, or after work celebration, or didn’t want to walk in a deep Bangkok’s alley to get great Japanese restaurant, Aoi always got you.
Even visiting it many times, we’ve never ordered the same menus. This time we ordered Ankimo, lunch set of grilled Sanma with shoyu on rice and MAI lunch set. They were such a roller coaster of taste.
We start off with bowl of creamy Ankimo. Not the best Ankimo in our life but definitely one of the high quality one. It served with ponzu and spicy grated radish. For the grilled Sanma, this dish surprised me. The smell was just like Unaju with Kabayaki sauce but here is Sanma where it can only be found during late summer and autumn. Then came the grand presentation of MAI set that start off with small glass of sweet liquor and followed by variety of small seafood dishes served. Good looking appetizers, fried dish, grilled dish and fresh sashimi.
We were fall for it and will definitely consider ordering this set again for...
Read moreThis was a pretty disappointing experience. We spent around 2000 baht per person for various food which was okay but not special for this price, thus 3 stars. For a restaurant in this price range, however, I would expect some kind of service which was non-existent. 1. We were not greeted when we came in 2. orders were not taken accurately 3. servers stared at us all the time 4. nobody smiled at any time which is quite unusual for Thailand 5. every additional service has to be paid extra, even for plain water I was charged. At no time did we have the feeling that we were welcome. The atmosphere is subpar. It looks nice from the outside, but inside the chairs and tables are stacked closely to each other that is unworthy of a restaurant with ambitions to serve an affluent clientele. I definitely do not recommend wasting...
Read moreMy friends and I have always made it a point to visit Aoi@Siam Paragon for nice Japanese food our every BKK holiday. Over the years, Aoi has managed to attract and maintain a steady flow of Japanese cuisine food aficionados. We ordered 3 sets: a shokadou yuki, a misokatsu (breaded deep-fried pork cutlet) and a sake saba-fish. They came accompanied nicely with rice and a dessert (yuzu jelly or ice-cream scoop). We enjoyed the food very much: totally delish and wonderful! The restaurant ambience was serene and quiet, conducive for enjoying a quiet meal at own pace. Staff were attentive but without fussing around tables, and they provided meticulous service...
