I felt very unwelcome and uncomfortable at this restaurant from the outset. We were barely acknowledged by the staff, we were intensely started at by the customers who were exclusively local to the Indian cuisine. We were not even offered menus within the first 15 minutes whilst staff carried out other activities such as wiping down tables which could wait. Once miserably handed the menus again no one came to take our order for a while despite asking multiple times. When handed the menu I asked what seemed to be the owner if I could pay by card and he told us that we would be able to use the card machine at his restaurant across the road which we thought was great. The food which then took around another 50 minutes to arrive was average, the chicken was actually quite chewy despite being breast but the curry sauces were good. The roti was the only thing to rage about which was freshly prepared. Asking for the bill took another 20 minutes. Every time I spoke to the waiters I was rudely interrupted by other customers and the waiter would then cut me off and divert their whole attention to them sometimes Even fulfilling their request before continuing their conversation with me. We went to the restaurant across the road with one of the waiters to pay and after several attempts their card machine did not work and we had no cash on us. The waiter started demanding that way withdraw this small amount and occur essentially a 25% fee of the meal for the withdrawal which I was reluctant to do. However they presented us no other choice and during the commotion of the withdrawal with the waiter standing over us like a hawk I managed to lose one of two of my bank cards and when paying the waiter they ran straight off without a word. Even if the food was excellent this place would barely get a star with how atrocious the service was. Really ruined our night and came at a great expense given the food was already...
Read moreI can recommend going to Gandhi's. Dishes may not be huge, but they are served in nice pots. The overall presentation of the food is nice. The orange colour of the massala, the yellow of the dal, topped with a bit of fresh koriander. Though the portions may look small, I was still satisfied after having eaten here. The second time visiting I walked all the way from Nanai Road South to here, because I like the food. Some other customer wrote that the food is a bit oily. That maybe the case. But the taste is really good. I also ordered a salty lassie with cumin. I recommend you to do the same. The tables and chairs are solid and convenient. It is not a restaurant with beautiful paintings, Ganesha statues or service people in traditional clothes. Nor is there music. Instead it's quiet inside. The menu has a clean touch, looks new, and is styled with bright and big coulorful pictures. There are more than enough menu choices. I find the price between reasonable and slightly pricy. I also found that the people that work there are friendly. Ínstead of luring you in, like with so many other restaurants in Patong, they rather pass their spare time playing with one of their baby sons. It's totally ok for me. And gives the place a sort of own identity and pace. I think 5 stars is quite a lot for this restaurant. But they deserve more than 4 stars. Let's say it's score should be about 4,5 stars. Read the above and think whether it suits what you are looking for today. I wrote this review because I think this restaurant deserves more customer's than it is currently attracting. Possibly because it's located behind...
Read moreNot so great experience infect it was below average. Staff here are having poor sense for Customer service.
While roaming for identifying good Indian food restaurant, observed this restaurant guy invite was very warm and hence we entered.
I am local resident of Thailand and I am Food Panda Pro member (similar to Zomato Gold or Swiggy One in India) and I have a 25% discount coupon for Dine In. When I show it to the staff, he has denied to accept it with stating irrelevant reasons for me. I have complained to Food Panda, they have called to this restaurant for 2 times, but this gentleman has not attended that call while I was seating on my table post my food order (this is my assumption as there were calls which were not attended by him while same time Foodpanda team was saying me for they are unable to contact the restaurant). So this is one issue which he could have dealt suitably with FP but he has decided for keeping mute and non supporting.
Now let's come to main area for this feedback. Taste of the food was below average (we have ordered Palak Paneer, Chhole Masala and Tandoori Butter Roti). Not at all worth to spend huge money here for such poor taste. Then I have given spot feedback to him and ordere for another dish (Chhole Bhatoore) which he has delivered with good taste. I would have expected all food with such taste but it was not.
So overall experience was...
