We had a horrific experience during our time in Phuket for this recent visit. We checked in on 12th Aug in Novotel Phuket Vintage Park Resort in the afternoon and were planning the our next day tours during the day.
By evening our daughter experienced continuous coughing and heavy breathing which made us very panicky. We expected the medical system of Phuket will come to our rescue but that wasn't to be as I tell you our first hand experience of horrors on Phuket medical system We first checked in with Novotel Phuket Vintage Resort and to our surprise there was no doctor or even paramedics team available at the hotel to attend our daughter when we complained them about this issue. For a resort which is associated with a brand like Accor I would say this is a systemic failure as one you can't have family resort without basic medication for traveling tourists. Massive negative points on this aspect for this hotel which otherwise has great hospitality. After this disappointment, we went to Takecare Clinic Doctor Patong (rated 4.5+ on Google) and after doing initial checks of our daughter the clinic told us they don't have relevant expertise to handle this matter and we should go to Patong Hospital. Kindly note this was the Hospital recommended by our Hotel as well but the Hospital had so many bad reviews on Google that we decided not to go there(Do note that there is no other reliable source for tourist other than Google in foreign nation regarding such matters). After this disappointment at the clinic, we decided to go Patong Hospital more in hope of getting right treatment and reached the Hospital at around 10 30 pm and there were only 2 people at the reception with no other help in this large Hospital. When we said our daughter isn't well and she is in urgent need to attention by doctor, we were told there is only ONE doctor at this time of the hour and he is attending someone already & they can't comment on how long will it take - May take 1, 2, 3 or even 4 hours. And this cold heartless irresponsible response was the exact reason highlighted in those Google reviews and we can't help but understand how can anybody working in Hospitals have no sympathy towards the patient, let alone the fact that this patient was a tiny 2.5 year old human. And all this at a so called large Hospital who could only tell us was to visit another clinic without offering any help whatsoever. They didnt guide where this clinic is and it's as if they didn't care. As we stepped out of the Patong Hospital with increased amount of anxiety and exasperation as daughter's health wasn't getting any better, we found the clinic they were referring to and we went there assuming atleast here we will get some support. But even at Saiyanmen International clinic, we couldn't get any help and all they did was increase our panic levels by loosely checking oxygen levels of our daughter which came out low because they hadn't used the device properly (At this stage we completely panicked and decided that we should just head back to India as soon as possible as there is absolute nobody in Phuket medical system who wants to help us poor tourists on their first day in this foreign country). As a last hope, this clinic suggested us to go to Bangkok Phuket Hospital which was 25 mins away from this clinic and suggested this is where we could find help After 3 rounds of bad experiences, we decided to go to this Hospital (again a large Hospital but with poor Google reviews on Hospital being money minded and scamming patients regularly after making them wait for long hours). After reaching there and completing our registration formalities we waited patiently as suggested by receptionist. And while we were waiting, we saw an old couple with their daughter scampering through the Hospital lobby for help & it concluded by them telling Hospital authorities that this old lady simply had bad stomach due to some food she had eaten & hence was looking for basic medication but she was made to undergo ultrasound test

Read moreWe are Gold Accor members and have stayed at a number of their hotels all around the world. After booking, we enquired about an early check in, normally 2pm and we were expecting to arrive around 1pm. Understanding that this is not always available and we would have been happy to leave our bags, the Assistant Manager sent an email in response to state the the hotel ‘can charge an additional nights stay’ for any early check in requests We arrived at reception at 1.20pm. We enquired what the member specific benefits at the hotel were. The lady checking us in, Paris explained 50% off food and 15% of beverages excluding any promotions. Over our 7 day stay, we ordered a number of room service items when it was pouring rain outside. The food was less than ordinary but the discount made it bearable. Our hotel room was on the second floor overlooking the pool and close to the restaurant. During the day, there was drilling and a jack hammer removing tiles in the hall opposite ours. It made it impossible to relax. We would go swimming at the beach, go out to lunch and sometimes return after 3-4pm and housekeeping had still not got to our room. On the Saturday night, guests were allowed to carry on outside of the restaurant after midnight for over an hour whilst the staff inside just cleaned up. We called the front desk, Im not sure if they acted but nothing changed. On the Tuesday night, guests were carrying on loudly in the pool after it was closed. It was around 11pm when we again contacted reception. A female staff member accompanied by a security guard asked them to leave the pool. They didn’t get out and both staff just left them in the pool. We looked at booking tours through their tour desk which was never attended. We were told they have no staff to help and directed us outside of the hotel. At check out, we were presented with our bill by Raya. No discount had been applied to and of the room service items. The manager Aor explained that the discount didn’t apply to room service. I explained at check in we were told the only exceptions were on promotional items. After around 3 hours of waiting, they supplied a 2 page print out of their terms and conditions and refused to apply the discount. Had we known this, we would not have ordered any food. We would have walked in the rain than pay 360THB for a...
Read moreAlways a Pleasure at Novotel Vintage Park Phuket
It’s always a pleasure to return to Phuket and the Novotel Vintage Park—our go-to destination for many years now! The service, setting, and warm welcome never disappoint.
As Accor Platinum members, we were greeted with a friendly smile and checked in via the private facilities. On arrival to our room, we were touched by the beautiful “Welcome” message made of flowers on our bed, accompanied by a generous snack basket and fresh fruit. A complimentary lunch was also provided—and wow, it was delicious!
The Room Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a rollaway bed set up for our child. The in-room spa bath was a relaxing treat, and since we stayed in a Deluxe Pool Access room, we also enjoyed a private spa just outside—perfect for unwinding with easy access to the main pool.
There’s a small fridge in the room, handy for keeping drinks and snacks chilled.
The Pool & Activities The pool bar offers a happy hour with 2-for-1 drinks (note: both drinks must be the same, which can be a little tricky if you’re not drinking the same thing).
There are plenty of activities on offer—our child especially loved the foam party, which was a huge hit! The day spa is also well worth a visit, offering a lovely selection of treatments in a tranquil setting.
For snacks or small essentials, the on-site kiosk is great—well stocked and reasonably priced for hotel standards.
Location The hotel is perfectly positioned—close to everything you need. It’s a short walk to the beach, with food outlets and shopping nearby. Bangla Walking Street is a bit further, but still within walking distance. We really enjoy this location as it’s out of the hustle and bustle, but still close to restaurants, street vendors, money exchange, and everything else you might need. We rarely use a Tuk Tuk as you can walk to most places .
Breakfast We had the buffet breakfast included, and it’s honestly one of the highlights! There’s truly something for everyone: poached eggs, toast, yoghurt, fresh fruit, pancakes, waffles, cereals, salads, cold meats, a chocolate fountain, bakery items, and a wide selection of Asian dishes too. (Check out my photos to see the...
