May 2023 Sweet restaurant is our usual food haunt when we are in Phuket. Considering that I’ve been to Phuket 14x, it speaks volumes when I say it’s my favourite Thai restaurant on Patong beach. We have tried the entire menu for Thai food - our favourites are the tomyam soup, shrimp cooked with garlic, spring rolls. and squid with basil leaf. To end your meal, you must have the fried banana fritters with ice cream as dessert. The more Thai-ish dessert is the mango with sticky rice. Prices are reasonable. We arrived two days ago and our first meal was at Sweet. There were four of us and we ordered 9 dishes!!! Read moreAwful, absolutely awful. The curry sauce was bareable but it was crudely and conservatively poured over some poached chicken which was god knows how many days old. The dried shrimp in the papaya salad stank like the sewers (not a fishy smell). The rice was like a brick of dried rubber. People mention cheap prices, LOL this is Phuket standard for shoddy restaurants like this that serve 400 items on their menus. There are many more places that serve far better food that is actually fresh and cheaper. ‘Australian owned’ it says, certainly not to the Australian standard I know. Crikey
Rice wasn’t fresh, curry sauce was good, food isn’t ‘cheap’ pretty standard for these restaurants in Phuket. Yeah it might be cheap compared to London or Sydney but not for Phuket
