the food here is excellent, the restaurant is cozy, comfortable, and clean. The ladies running the shop here are soooo sweet and kind! English spoken very well, making this a great shop to try delicious thai food in a comfortable setting for tourists.
I have had the mee hokkien (spelled me ho kean on their menu), which seems to be a phuket specialty. the noodles were delicious, big and had a little bite to them. the pork was perfectly cooked and the vegetables were crisp. And plentiful amounts of a wonderful soy and oyster based sauce made the dish perfect. I liked that it wasn't too salty, and added some vinegar and chili flakes to match my preference.
Pad kaprao (chicken) was also excellent, lots of holy basil, lots of sauce, and a good amount of birds eye chili pepper for that spicy kick. It's much less spicy than places not catered to tourists. I also added a fried egg, which had a satisfying creamy yolk.
pad thai is yummy as well! the first one that i have really enjoyed here!
Mango smoothie, excellent.
The place does accommodate vegetarians as well, plus chicken and seafood options for those who don't eat pork!
Finally, cost-performance was excellent, relatively low prices for high quality ingredients and delicious taste. I recommend coming here heavily. It could be a good place for tourists to safely try things outside their typical...
Read moreStumbled upon an incredible place, Genuine Thai Food, for a late afternoon 'dinner'. Tucked away off the main road, this small gem might look modest, but don't let that deceive you. The service was ultra-friendly, with varying levels of English, but all heartwarming. I had the Shrimp Paste Fried Rice with Chicken for just 70 baht, accompanied by a large Chang. Honestly, it was mind-blowingly good, like nothing else I've had in all my trips to Thailand. Simple looking, but the flavors were a perfectly balanced, sublime mix of Thai tastes. It's hard to put into words just how amazing it was. I'm already planning to go back tomorrow to dive deeper into their menu. The staff were super friendly and chatty, making the whole experience even more enjoyable, despite my limited Thai. Anyone in Phuket Old Town looking for an affordable yet outstanding meal should not...
Read moreREALLY GENUINE Thai food, don't be skeptical. This is a family run restaurant that has operated for more than 10 years, with absolutely delicious food and very affordable pricing. The daughters serve the customers while their mum is the only chef. They are all very friendly and the daughters spoke fluent English, it was a pleasure to dine there.
All the dishes in the extensive menu are cooked by her personally. It's not too spicy, nor oily or salty. Food tasted very "clean" yet tasty. Our favourites are the tom yum soup (we ordered 2 bowls!) and the chicken they served was very tender.
Total cost for 5 pax came to around ~855 baht with 11 dishes and a few drinks.
Would definitely return multiple times if I have the chance to. Thank you so much!!
