For a first timer, the restaurant is located conveniently near Wat Mangkon MRT station. A lovely stroll through the inner / back lanes behind the shops emerging through one of the shops enhances the entire experience of Chinatown.

Lunch at 1130 am is peaceful and quiet. A simple order of Salted fish fried rice and a serving of curry prawns should feed 2 person. While fried rice was a little lukewarm on the outside, kitchen could have timed it better to serve it with the prawns in a more timely manner. Top it up with 2 bowls of bird nest served after the simple meal will set you back by approximately B1500. While pricing may be somewhat catered to tourists, regardless personally I tend to think that it is worth the while.

Service can be a hurdle as language barrier is obvious, but common sense and sign language prevails.

While there may be many shops that serve the same thing, I decided on this restaurant basically cos it’s air...

I have been frequenting this place for close to 2 decades, have seen it at its most popular where HK TVB stars dine there and now where there are hardly any customers whenever I go.

Inspite of all these, I make it a point to have a meal here whenever I m in BKK (a struggle between Lek seafood which is 2 min walk versus this located in Chinatown). But recently the mrt goes to Chinatown in Bangkok now, just alight at the 2nd stop after Sam Yang station n then ask politely for directions to the street where all the seafood eateries are.

I have abided by my own rule when ordering at Nam Sing, only 3 dishes which are the claypot braised sharksfin soup (dark colour) the crab or prawn tang hoon and either a grilled tiger prawns or steamed smallish fresh prawn (they pile on lots of serai and galangale n minus cooking wine). Still yummy!

The rest of the dishes are forgettable.

Recommended, for...

The boss took order for me and my family. His attitude is very poor, no patient and so rude! The foods are really really so so only. Shark fin served in claypot but just warm. Ordered fried rice but never serve it to me. When I checked with the boss, he told me that fried rice need to "慢慢等“( Just wait!). Luckily I checked with another staff after sitting there and waited for more than 30mins. Guess what, the staff told me that no fried rice logged into their ordering system. The boss never apologize to me but just push away this to his staff to handle with me. I saw a lot of bad reviews before I go. I am indeed really regret to go this restaurant. Ladies and gentlemen, good luck to you if you choose to...

Been to this restaurant everytime I’m in yaowarat. Yesterday we went to this restaurant but was pretty disappointed. Quality: some how the quality of the food was different compared to last year, ordered some birdnest, taste was diluted and birdnest texture was off. Service: regretted almost immediately when we stepped in, wasn’t being welcome and staffs was practically unhappy seeing patrons entering. Was rushed to a corner of the restaurant despite having many empty tables . There was only 2 tables of customers. Not busy time . There’s many other option around the corner that appreciate customers dining at their place with better quality food. Will not return
