Full Review – Shanghai Mansion Bangkok As a natural extension of the enchanting experience offered by Shanghai Mansion Bangkok, you’ll find a truly special place: Red Rose Restaurant & Bar. Though technically a separate business from the hotel, it shares the same owner — and above all, the same spirit of elegance and care.
From the moment you step inside, the ambiance speaks for itself. Red lanterns, lacquered wood details, dim lighting — everything invites you to slow down and soak it all in. It’s both stylish and vibrant, the kind of place where time seems to pause.
The cocktails are a highlight — frequently mentioned in reviews — and rightly so. They’re refined, perfectly balanced, and served with genuine attention to detail. They pair beautifully with the live music performed every evening: soft, California-acoustic vibes that create a warm, intimate atmosphere. This isn’t just a bar — it’s a whole mood.
On the food side, the menu offers delicious Asian cuisine with a standout mention for the Peking duck, which often gets high praise. Whether you’re in the mood for a comforting soup, a full dinner, or just a small bite by the bar, the experience feels effortlessly smooth and satisfying.
Just like in the hotel, the staff is exceptional — kind, soft-spoken, discreet yet always attentive. You feel genuinely welcomed, respected, even cared for.

Read moreOn the ground floor of Shanghai Mansion hotel, my girlfriend and I recently dined here then stuck around for the live jazz. Overall it was an above average experience.
For food we ordered grilled king river prawns, fried rice cooked in lotus leaves, fried mushrooms with wasabi, and stir fried broccoli in sweet and sour sauce. Plus a couple of drinks.
The giant river prawns, despite being expensive, were not fresh; we could taste and smell that it had been sitting in the freezer a bit too long and not well seasoned, if at all. The mushrooms came with a curiously sugary sauce that didn't pair well with the wasabi.
The rice and broccoli were somewhat good, however.
Service was prompt and professional, despite the nearly full restaurant - contrasted with a lunch service some colleagues and I had a few months ago. The musicians prior to the jazz trio and the trio themselves were also good (so I included them in the 5-star service).
I think the Red Rose is better for the live music and jazz, supplemented by tasty cocktails and maybe...
Read moreThis Thai restaurant caught my eye and ear a few times with the lively band playing in the evenings. Decided to check it out one afternoon, and while the band wasn't playing, there was no shortage of seating, making it easy to choose a spot. The giant red dragon decor threw me off initially, making me think it was a Chinese restaurant, but it's all about Thai cuisine here.
The menu prices were a tad high, but the presentation of the dishes and the overall ambiance of the place made it feel worthwhile. It's easy to see that the experience might be elevated with the night-time live music. The Thai iced tea I ordered was spot on, and the complimentary snacks were a nice touch. The pad see-ew was decent, though the chicken was a bit too dry for my taste.
Overall, it seems like the kind of spot that would shine in the evening with the band setting the mood. The setting and the vibe justify the prices, and while the food was good, I'm curious to see how the atmosphere...
