Went with 3 friends for dinner. The place has a nice "hidden" atmosphere, as you have to walk out of Walking Street to get there. The staff speaks english and came to us promptly, but the lady was kind of rude during our entire evening (making faces and ironic comments whenever we asked questions about the menu). Then 2 different waiters failed to tell us how big the appetizer we ordered was, as a result we got something way bigger than expected and got a bit full (of bread) before the main course. Two of us had beef lasagnas, which were average tasting at best. The other two dishes were pasta w/ funghi sauce (which was very tasty) and steak w/ rosemary, which was ok but totally overpriced. It was my birthday, so we asked if we could get a dessert free of charge, as a courtesy (which is common in this part of the world), but that didn't happen. Overall all of us expected more for the...
Read moreComing from the hospitality industry, I was surprised that a restaurant with a 4.5 rating was this disappointing and chaotic. Our meal was adequate, there was no atmosphere and the staff seemed overwhelmed by about 15 tables. Yes it was a full restaurant with people waiting, but there was no customer service and no communication between staff. A couple who had been sat at the bar waiting for a table to pay for around 15 mins lost their table when, I presume the owner, gave it to someone else who'd just got there. And the table next to us, who ordered before us, had their meal forgotten about. We'd eaten and paid our bill before they got theirs, which did not look worth the wait. Small portions, lacking in flavour and very overpriced for what you get. Was a real shame, I can only presume the higher reviews went when it was quiet so the staff could...
Read moreI am italian and, when I go abroad, I normally try to avoid italian restaurants but I am very happy that this time I made an exception!! We decided to go to Capriccio for our New Year's Eve dinner and we really loved it. The food was really very good, the ambient was very nice and the staff very dedicated and eager to learn from the owner. As almost all the italian, when we start to talk about food I become very critical but I have to say that I was so happy to have eaten there that we decided to come back again even though it's a bit expensive for being a restaurant in Thailand. Real italian home made food with very good and fresh ingredients. If we come back to Koh Lipe we will definitely go to eat at...
