Eating at Bonita Cafe and Social Club is like going to your grandma's house and getting served with the utmost love, care and attention-to-detail. The owner, cook, and server truly care about your experience and they put love, cleanliness (which is hard to find), and quality ingredients in the food. If you are not just a vegan, but someone who values non-greasy, high quality, fresh ingredient meals, then this is the place for you. Plus they have so many options to choose from! You won't get bored. Both times that we've come here so far (yes, I am currently sitting in Bonita Cafe writing this review) we've ordered the Japanese curry with white or brown rice and a side of pan-fried seasonal vegetables (they actually look and taste steamed, not fried, but are still really good). We also ordered 2 whole wheat pancakes with coconut whipped cream and coconut syrup which was so fluffy, heart-warming and not too sweet. I love that they don't use microwave or low-quality ingredients in their food preparation. That's hard to find in BKK. But anyway, the pancakes are very much so worth the splurge (in case you're watching your carbs). It tastes like they use freshly ground whole wheat or just good quality flour to make the pancakes. You can also opt for gluten-free pancakes or waffles instead. We also ordered fresh juices which were delicious. Mine was guava, apple, spinach, ginger and pineapple and my husband had the beetroot, cucumber, carrot, lemon and pineapple juice. So good! Definitely make your way here if you are vegan, vegetarian, Ayurvedic, or even keto/paleo because it will be so easy for you to make good eating choices here no matter plant-based eating...
Read moreWhat a beautiful place, uniquely decorated and run by some extremely kind people who you sense have been living an interesting life to the fullest - would love to hear about it one day if they would be willing to share 😊 The place was brimming with paraphernalia from their extreme USA run of 5000 kms over Route 66, very impressive and fun to feast your eyes on the many picture and Route 66 plates. They had a lovely and elaborate menu - including a heartwarming section about their cafe and social mission. Made us very happy 💚 This time we opted for Western food: the vegan hot dog plate and scrambled tofu / club sandwiches which were nice and kept us fulfilled for the rest of the day. Complimentary filtered water was offered and (re)poured in abundance too. Also noteworthy: there was a very cute cat barricading the door when we were finished with our meal. Cat didn’t want to be touched today, which of course we respected, and it was still a treat to witness the majestic lil beast in all its fluffy glory. The sign supporting Ukraine outside was also a nice gesture. Oh and when asked, the owner kindly advised us to a good hospital (because one of us had suffered a severely sprained and swollen ankle), even walked out with us towards our Grab car and wished us good luck, which was very sweet. We wish these wonderful people countless happy and healthy days, and good business. We definitely hope to...
Read moreLovely family run restaurant with a homely atmosphere. All the drinks and food here were plant based and dairy free.
I’ve been here multiple times because I loved the menu and warm hospitality. There were also cute cats to hang out with!
My companion and I have tried the following: Popeye’s Spinach Creamy Soup: 120B, Onion Rings: 120B, Curry And Brown Rice: 240B, American Cheese Burger Plate: 340B, K’s Run Across USA Smoothie (Chocolate): 150B.
When I wasn’t feeling well, the Spinach Soup was gentle and filling.
The Curry with Brown Rice was served with sides of sesame soy sauce and yummy pickled ginger. As a huge fan of Japanese curries, this was my first time eating a fully vegan version and it was immensely delicious!
My companion who doesn’t normally eat plant based burgers really enjoyed the Cheese Burger Plate.
Loved the Chocolate Smoothie so much, this was ordered twice.
The upstairs seating area was romantic at night. There were many interesting trinkets and books to explore alongside our dining experience. The owners Neung and K have an amazing story, and we could tell they were very passionate in what they do.
On my last day in Bangkok, I spent some time here before heading for the train station. It was raining heavily outside, Neung was incredibly kind and came out with me with an umbrella so that I didn’t get wet getting into the taxi. It was the loveliest send off...
