I’d leave 5 stars if they were union.
I started shopping at Trader Joe's this year. I have shopped at Aldi before, so I knew the general system. It is always busy when I go, but as long as you are polite, everyone gets through without any issues. I've never even had another customer be rude to me at Trader Joe's, which is super weird. I spend a lot of time talking to the people who work at every place I shop. I want to know that I am supporting an ethical business. I have started conversations with stockers in all sections of the store, and every cashier. I ask them about their pay and healthcare benefits. I ask about their schedules. I ask if they feel like they're being treated well.
90% have said they would love to be union; that it's good now, but they believe they deserve a little more and I DO TOO! The workers at Trader Joe's are nice, helpful, and just salt of the earth type folks. I was checking out and my cashier gave me a recipe for something I was buying because he had just made it and it was so easy and delicious! What?! How did a cashier have the time, energy, state of mind, to look at my groceries and give me a recipe (link)?
I am so thankful I overcame my anxiety about the crowds at Trader Joe's. If you research their food, ethics, and mission, you understand why the grocery store and environment it creates is SO DIFFERENT. I love the huge spice selection (that I get to put right in my spice jars), I never have to buy non-organic now bc they have everything in an organic variety, I love the fresh produce variety and quality, and my teens adore the frozen food/microwave section!
I feel so much better since I was able to completely switch over to wholer/less processed, organic food. Thank you, Trader Joe WORKERS, for making that possible.
How I ended up at Trader Joe: I was shopping at Kroger because they carry a lot of organic, and it's close to my house. I was really disappointed in Kroger's handling of Covid, hazard pay, and record profits. Kroger became very unaffordable, the workers were extremely unhappy which translate to a buy shopping experience for customers. I started looking for a new store. I chose Kroger because they were union, and I thought that was enough to protect the workers. It was not because of the 1947 Taft-Hartley act. louworkersbrigade . org. Instead of giving these "ESSENTIAL" workers fair pay to compensate them for the danger and physical toll the labor takes on them, they kept it all and starved the rest of us by...
Read moreI am writing to express my disappointment regarding a recent experience at your Louisville store. On 01/20/2024. I called ahead to inquire about the availability of your Thai coconut pancakes. I spoke with an employee, Christie, who confirmed that they were in stock.
Based on this confirmation, my wife, and I drove 10 miles to your store. Upon arrival, we were unable to locate the pancakes ourselves. We proceeded to the service desk, where we encountered the employee who had answered my earlier phone call. While she was initially helpful in searching for the pancakes, she ultimately informed us that they were not available.
Her response to my explanation that I had called earlier to confirm availability was, frankly, unprofessional and disappointing. She stated that she was "not a mind reader" and implied that I should have mentioned my intention to visit the store during the phone call. This seems counterintuitive; if I'm calling to verify stock before making a trip, it's reasonable to assume I intend to purchase the item if it's available. Her tone and demeanor were unnecessarily belligerent, leaving us frustrated and dissatisfied with our overall experience.
I understand that stock can fluctuate, and occasional errors occur. However, the employee's response to my inquiry lacked the courtesy and professionalism expected from a customer service representative. I believe that better staff training and improved communication protocols are necessary to prevent similar situations from occurring in the future. A simple apology for the inconvenience and a more considerate response would have significantly improved...
Read moreOnce you arrive, you are greeted by a host of fresh vibrant flowers and reasonably priced along with a very friendly staff. Also make sure to get a big basket unless you go everyday for fresh food then get the handheld basket. They even have baskets for the little ones. You can bring your own food bag(s) or purchase one of TRADER JOE'S FOOD BAGS. Trader Joe's has a wide arrangement of food bags and they are spectacular. I am serious, once you see the carrying bags, it makes you feel like all of the holidays are wrapped up in one. And really make you forget why you came or make you think where are my groceries. Lol . And that is just the prior to the entrance to the produce section. I love Butternut Squash and its perfect with the ASIAN STIR FRY. As I love their ASIAN STIR FRY (includes mushroom slices) AND SALAD MIX(all diced portions). Biggest apple selection I've seen aside from the international farmers market, organic fruit and wide arranged assortment of vegetables best priced spices. O.M.G. before going broke make sure you visit the spice section, "a taste of finesse" best prices in town and I owe this review to my battle buddy, Ms. Cathy, in Radcliff, Ky. She knows my sensitive food allergies along no salt policy. If you have time, please visit Trader Joe's in Louiville, Ky. I take a trip at least once a month, and I also, pick up EXTRA SPICES for out of towners and friends who can't travel long distances. Best spice and better than M. DASH. Is T.J 21 Seasoning Salute along multitude other flavors. It's 55 miles from...
