I love Starbucks, and have been going to this store and others in the Louisville area weekly for over 10 years. But in my entire life, I have never had a worse customer service experience than I had last night.
I went to this store (which is my favorite; seeing as it's in St. Matthews, where I grew up right around the corner, and the building is an old Bank of Louisville location, where I had a bank account as a child. The old bank vault is even still in the building, now used as a conference center.) So I've been a faithful customer of this location for years, I've even come to know some of the baristas and formed friendships with them.
But the baristas I encountered last night were the exact opposite of friendly. My visit started as usual, put money on my Starbucks card, ordered drinks and went to wait for my order ($20 spent on drinks and a brownie). As my order was being completed, 2 of my drinks (a tea and a refresher) that were delivered to me had the new sipper-type lid. I asked if the other lid type was available, because even though this new lid design is neat; the previous week I had a drink spill in my car (because there is no stopper for the lid opening). After offering me a lid ment for a frappuccino (which has an even larger opening, and wouldn't fit the cup), one the four baristas I saw made a comment that those lids are no longer available because it's not good for the environment. I said ok, but it kind of sucks because of my spill the previous week. All of this was said very casually, because it's just a lid and I was just asking if they had the other lid available. The barista I was speaking to (blonde hair chick) then gets an attitude and says "Well, it's not good for the environment. We're trying to save the turtles". And as she's turns to walk away, she says something I couldn't hear, but the barista in front of me gives her a sideways look, and based on her attitude- I know it was something disrespectful. I let this pass, because there's no point in souring my visit and dealing with her holier-than-thou attitude.
As I continued to wait for my order to be completed, the baristas got in to a discussion about which endangered animal was cuter, and that paper straws are bio-degradable, but the store continues to use regular plastic straws.
As the barista completed my order, she placed a small straw with my order for my frappuccino. Because the straw is so short, I asked for a tall straw. She looks at me and says that she gave me a straw. I said she did, but I would like a tall straw because of how high the frappuccino lid is. She continued to look at me, like she didn't understand what I was saying. I said I need a tall straw. So she tried to hand me another short straw. I said no, that's the same straw as what she gave me. At this point I actually had to mime with my hands the length of the straw I needed. She finally handed me a tall straw, but said with an attitude that when I ask for a tall straw, she's going to give me a short straw because it goes with the tall drink- even though I didn't order a tall drink.
So I don't know what the tall straw is called, but at this point I was done with my visit and left.
I love Starbucks, and spend quite a bit of money on drinks, snacks and accessories; like tumblers, bags, holiday trinkets, etc. I'm incredibly disappointed with my experience from this visit, because a trip to Starbucks once a week is a treat to myself, having to work 6 days a week for the last 2 years. Getting attitude from 2 baristas at 9 o'clock at night on my one day off is not how I wanted to spend my time, and is not how I wanted to review my visit. *And to top this off, my father's drink wasn't even made as I ordered. Asked for 140 temp, he had to wait for drink to cool down,...
Read moreI started coming to this Starbucks because they were a lot more consistent and nicer than the Frankfort and Lexington location. Everyone has always been cheerful and comforting today I'm writing because of a negative incident. I ordered a grande iced vanilla latte like I do every other morning. Today though I get there and find my order and it's just a plain iced coffee with vanilla in it. I asked a barista about it and was told to get in line. I didn't have much time to spare before work, got in line and I asked for a new one and a barista said she'd handle it. I get it and sip at as I'm leaving and realized she just threw a little cream in there. At this point I didn't have any more time to wait or get a new one. I don't mean to be that over the top picky person, but I want what I order to be correct. I've tried contacting Starbucks about a refund and haven't heard anything. I am more than glad to 5 star this location because I have always have great experiences...
Read moreThis place is simply not worth the money anymore when there are 5 other places you can go around here with better customer service and better coffee. Every single time I come here, they try to tell me I placed my order and showed up too quick (on the app). They told me to pull up and wait 5 to 10 minutes for my drink when thr app said 3. Sometimes ill place my order 15 mins in advance and they still won't have it ready at the window and tell me they'll "get it ready for me". I used to work here for several years. We never used to pull people for 5 to 10 minutes or make them come in. And by pull, I mean make me park and then drive back around 10 minutes later. The lady that took my order is also rude, telling me "im just here for college" okay, good for you. And im just here to get my drink. Im in my 20s and its very easy to give good customer service. I worked in customer service previous to what I do now for 10 years. This...
