I recommend this restaraunt. The appetizers are all a hit, I had the agedashi tofu and the takoyaki and they were both delicious and well plated. Agedashi tofu is fried and has a sweet sauce similar to eel sauce, if you are feeling a LITTLE adventurous but tend to be a pocky eater I recommend trying that. If you want to be even more adventurous I very muchly so recommend takoyaki. Of course, its always mentioned in anime so I was curious but I was worried it'd have a strong smell or be a too adventurous of a flavor for me. It was awesome, if you like squid or octopus you should just get it. The outside is fried but the inside is doughy and hot with flavorful cuts of octopus in it. It also tastes similar to the flavor of eel sauce if you know you like that. If you're looking for a particular deal pay attention to the hours you show up, they have lunch deals through the week. Its refreshing to have a clean, well staffed, dependable restaraunt. They have also renovated, so there is much more seating and booths.

Nigiri lovers—this is your spot. The rice perfect. Chef—amazing. Sit at the bar. They brush the soy sauce as well as a citrus type juice/topping (depending on the fish). They ask if you want fresh wasabi paste that they do a little baby dollop on the fish(they ask your preference—put it on) OMG good. The wasabi paste is a different flavor profile than what you are expecting if you have experienced wasabi at other sushi joints. The salmon belly is to die for. Tamago is perfect—not too sweet or bite-y. Easily the best nigiri I’ve had in Louisville. My fiancé and I have tried a lot of different sushi places around the metro and this really hit it out of the park. The staff members are extremely attentive — one of the best sushi experiences I’ve had in terms of taste and quality of every piece.

We started with a salad followed by a Shrimp tempura and Shrimp Shumai. Upon arrival we were disappointed the shrimp Shumai was fried (typically always steamed); when we asked about it we were told that it has always been served fried. I have ordered this my entire life and this was the very first time I have ever had them fried. Once we started eating them it was obvious that it had all been fried together everything tasted the same. If you’d like your Shumai steamed you have to ask for it steamed. We then ordered (cautiously) some sashimi , a strawberry roll and a fish hat ; and waited quite a while. Again disappointed It may be awhile before we come back. We will be trying sushi and sashimi at other locations before coming back.

I feel bad having to drop my review down from 4 stars to 1. I used to go to Sakura Blue once a week or about once every other week. However, things have been slipping here recently. My last visit in particular, described below, was just the straw that broke the camel's back so to speak.

I came in and ordered around $40 of sushi. I had one request. No wasabi and no ginger. I wrote it on the order paper and told the waitress when she took the order. When the order came back there was ginger piled on the plate so much so that I was able to take it off and fill 2 of the little sauce dishes so it wasn't just full, but almost an inch high over the top of the bowl and then had enough still to fill a 3rd sauce dish. It was a massive pile on the plate. There was also wasabi on the dish and under the fish on the sushi itself. I didn't tip much.

Normally i base the tip on just the service provided by the waitress because they can't help if something isn't quite cooked right, but this was something that if she had just looked at the dish she could have pointed it out to the chef and it could have been fixed before the dish ever got to the table. It was very very very noticeable amount of ginger in a large pile on the plate. I feel like the chef just did it to spite me, especially since he also put wasabi on the dish and under the fish. It wasn't even under all the fish just some of it like he had tried to hide it under the fish to catch...

They must have recently changed ownership. I have been here several times in the past and it has been very good service. The last 2 times it has been horrible. The service is very slow and chaotic. The most recent visit the Habachi cook was great as usual, which is why I tipped him, but the 2 waiters they had were awful. It took them 50 minutes to bring out my sushi order after bringing me the wrong salad and my friend still didn't have his. When we questioned the waiter that had tattoos all up and down his arm, the waiter snapped at him saying, " I put your order in dude, it's not my problem!" When we questioned what he had said, because I couldn't imagine someone acting so rude the waiter got even more aggressive and nasty. We tried to ask for the owner and was ignored. I will never go back here again and we had visited this place once a week in the past since it's was so close and convenient to our business. I work in a customer service industry. If I ever had an employee act this way towards a customer, he would be fired...
